Gatineau golf course is loosing some land
Have you guys heard that Gatineau GC is going to lose some land cause the city is building a swimming pool? It seems that they are losing the short par 4 and long par 3 beside the boulevard.

'loosing' should be spelled 'losing', and 'loose should' be 'lose'.
----------------
lose:
To be unsuccessful in retaining possession of; mislay: He's always losing his car keys.
loose:
Not fastened, restrained, or contained: loose bricks.

By the way, your english is fine, some people have nothing better to do than to (try and) correct other peoples mistakes.
I am learning French so I understand how difficult it is.

Berube, take heart. Your point here as elsewhere in your postings was clearly understood. Tu devrais écrire en francais pour Mr. UpandDown. Je ne pense pas qu'il pourrait te donner un cour de formation en englais. On the other hand, I suspect that he was just kidding.

When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

Love seeing Cyrillic alphabet used in the forum. Not Russian, but I have done some translation work in the past and love the look of the alphabet. I'm Czech, so we can form a seemingly endless pool of languages in this forum.
mberube, take comfort in the fact that quite often people have good intentions when they make corrections in language acquisition skills, they just can't phrase it well in writing. Text is very one-dimensional in the practical sense, language is almost infinite in it's scope of possible information conveyance. My friend Shawn just wrote a very interesting paper on the quantum aspects of information which explains it a lot better than I can....

I am compelled to say: ¿Quién sabía que el golf podría generar una discusión tan erudita? or Chi ha saputo che il golf potrebbe generare così discussione erudite?
No, I am neither Spanish nor Italien. But the Internet has a great translation engine that will do in a pinch: http://world.altavista.com/
