On January 6, 2007 Sphere Hunter, me and another friend of ours played in Syracuse, N.Y. It was lovely. Here's a picture of one of the par 3s taken that day. The weather was perfect. Winter golf is the perfect transition to spring golf.
P.S. If you right click on the photo and open it in another window you'll see the hole much better than the default viewer.

Sak, I believe that was the day I played with you, gbower and SphereHunter. I think it was -4 or -5 with the windchill when we started, but it warmed up to +8 during the round. Other than us bouncing our drives on the pond on 17 and having that green covered in snow, it was a great day."A life lived in fear of the new and the untried is not a life lived to its fullest." Hey Sillywilly this is what you are missing out on because you will not play golf when it is below 20 C.
Tell me this isn't pretty to look at while you play a round of golf in mid October.
BTW, that is me wearing that short sleeve shirt in the middle of October!

I used to play when it was cold; but since I retired we just go to Florida.

I think if more of the golf courses stayed open longer then I would kit myself up better and play when it is colder. Anything anywhere near me seems to close early.

The arrange-a-game part of this forum is invaluable to me after October... I get to meet up with all the same desperados year after year!

4 C when I teed off this morning, and windy! After 9 holes I went to my locker and put on my rain pants for the back 9. Much more comfy after that. Also had some light rain off and on. Nice thing about it was the course was almost empty so we were not waiting around!

Well after hearing about the snow in to today I wanted to golf so bad, but I decided not to it rained here all day long, everytime it would let up I would stick my head outside to see if it might have warmed up some, but nope still felt cool. But seeing as I am working this weekend I might just go out tomorrow, whether it is rainy, cold, windy or not. I am lacking way behind in games this year and fear that he season is coming to a quick end
Never dreamt I would ever get so hooked on this game!!

Well my usual Tuesday game was cancelled today, so I am already in withdrawal the next 3 days look decent though, so I will be heading out while I can. My 10 deg min. has vanished already.

...as if the golf season is really going to end in October! Geez, one week of bad weather and everyone goes into panic mode.
Get real folks! All this means is that you'll probably be able to finish your round in about 3 hours, and the patio just might be closed when you're done.

Here is a good cold weather tip for men golfers. Wear women's pantyhose to help keep your legs warm.
Remember Joe Namath? He wore them during football games.
Layer your clothing properly so you are not bulky and you can play golf when it is 0 C outside. My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

Here is a tip for lady golfers. Wear men's long underwear. You will appreciate the trap door when sitting in those frigid port-a-potties...

Somehow I just can't picture Golfbum wearing panty hose. Plaid shorts and green shoes, yes, but panty hose, no.

I sold those green golf shoes! Years ago when I did a lot of late fall steelhead fishing in the late fall/early winter I did try wearing pantyhose! all you want but those things were warm, wore them under my long johns fleece pants. I was warm as toast in water temperatures that were hovering just below 40 F.
Think about it, you see women outside in the winter wearing dresses and pantyhose. Must be something we don't know!
Speaking of cold weather. We had a 4 hour and 15 minute "Frost Delay" at the course I work at. The ground was solid white at the first tee time at 9 AM. The holes in the shade were not frost free until shortly after 1 PM. Longest frost delay I have seen in the two seasons I have worked there.
My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.
