Spammers gone WILD!!!
I've noticed that I'm getting a lot more spam in the past week or so. When I checked the spam folder for my Rogers account I have over 43000 messages...............the kicker is that my spam folder is set to delete every day. For kicks I emptied it this morning before I left for my round of golf, that was about 10:30 AM today as us 9:15 PM today there are already 11247 messages in my spam folder

Turn off your "COOKIES" in your browsers. I never accept them when using IE. I do accept them when I browse with Firefox, but then I only use Firefox for some trusted sites.
I used to download a lot of trial software etc. When asked for an email address I never gave mine, I just made up some BS email address.
I get spam too, but now I am down to 5-10 junk mailers every 2-3 days. Most of that crap gets held back at my email server. Some does get through though.
Another reason you get spammed..........People who send emails to multiple contacts and do not use the BCC feature. Next thing you know your email address is all over the country. Note to all who send out emails to multiple contacts, USE THE BCC Line.

I'm starting to get buried too!
Does anybody have a simple way to change my home email address AND also import my
Address Book so that I can keep them all?
Not a computer whiz over here.
Thanks,

Sounds like a name change is in order... how about "Spam Magnet"?
I get spammed maybe once a month. I'm with Rogers (provider) but use hotmail exclusively and have a Gmail account as a safty feature. My security settings are all set at "moderate" and I do use the Bcc feature mentioned by GolfBum. Use AVAST virus system (on line and free). Have VISTA which I am told is pretty safe, for now. Don't know what I'm doing but seems to work so far. Only think I do extra is once a day or so I hit Tools and delete my cookies and temporary internet files, especially after on line banking.Last edited by Kiwi; 10-13-2008 at 09:05 PM. Reason: clarify

Hi guys--not quite sure how everyone is getting buried with all this spam. I am hooked up with Bell Sympatico---which apparently has a firewall etc and we have free AVG virus protection and that's it. We get absolutly no spam. I can't figure out why all you fellas have all the garbage and we don't get any. As Kiwi says --we delete cookies after banking and don't do anything else. Just curious

I get tons of spam at work but very little at home.
I think if your email address (or alias) is published on a web page, you are guaranteed to get lots of spam, spoof emails and "undeliverable" returns of email that you never sent. Everyone at my office gets varying amounts of this. It may be the same if you have a personal web page, blog or your email is publicly available on Facebook, etc.
