    shortening of putter shafts

I bought a 35 inch TM Monza putter but think it should be shorter in order for my arms to hang better under my shoulders.

If shortened to 33.5 inches do I need to get the lie corrected?
If so, how is a putter lie corrected with the complex bends without ruining face balancing and such?

You really might not need to change it at all. Why do you want to shorten it? If it is too tall for you and you choke down on the grip/shaft and are comfortable there, the lie will be the same at 33.5" or 35" (your hands will be at the same place on the shaft relative to the head). The lie will change if you grip it in a different place because of the shortening.

Also, when shortening you will notice a difference in feel because of a drop in overall weight and swingweight (if you are gripping it lower after the change). You may want some lead or tungsten power down the shaft & an epoxied cork jammed down on top of it to increase the overall weight and swingweight. Just a thought.

If you do want to change the lie, one of the local clubmakers should have a putter loft/lie machine. They can do it without any fear of damage.
