Well she picked the right event, the highest ranked player is 87th so you would think that if she cannot make the cut here then she really is sticking her neck out for nothing. Oh, yeah, she is already doing that.

I don't think she could make the cut at a mini-tour event, let alone a PGA event, even if she is playing against the bottom feeders. You're right tho silly, this is as good a chance she will get at making a cut on the PGA.
What a PR coup it would have been had she politely declined the invite and instead tried to qualify for the British. I guess Nike has too much invested in her to let her slip out of the media spotlight.Al Gore didn't invent the internet, but he did invent global warming.

The guy's spot that she took was Todd Fischer. On and off the PGA Tour, and now playing on the Nationwide Tour, Fischer lives in Reno and has a membership to the tournament course, Montreaux. Last year, playing on a sponsor execmption, Fischer had a top-ten finish, and a few years ago, he finished second.
Fischer originally was promised an exemption, but had it taken away when the tournament director decided that Sideshow Wie would somehow give the tournament a boost.
Never ever say that Wie does not "take a spot away" from a deserving player.

Sponsor's exemptions can be given to anyone the sponsor chooses. Judging from the number of people paying attention to Wie in this event it undoubtedly boosted their ratings and attendance. Good move on their part.
Deserving players don't need the exemptions... they can qualify on their own.The opinions expressed in this post are mine and may not necessarily reflect the opinions of others on OG.

Is this your polite way of stating Michelle Wie did not deserve a sponsors exemption? If she is so deserving of a spot in the field then she should have qualified on her golf game. Not her popularity, or the fact she might sell some extra tickets.
Personally I would and did not bother to watch any of the coverage of the first two rounds just so I could see her fail.
It is becoming a total joke. 8 times she has tried on the PGA, 8 times she has failed. Give it up. It is time for her agents and Poppa Wie to stop dreaming and come back down to earth. She can not even qualify for the LPGA let alone the PGA.
She did manage to grab the opening page on the Golf Channel website. So at least she accomplished something the past two days
