Dudes, he's signed for well below market value. At this price, they're keeping him. Others with similar stats got alot more dough. I like Vermette, great on the PK, and he's only been in the league for four years, so there's still room for him to grow offensively. 24 goals with just over 11 minutes of ice time per night is a strong ratio.

Based on what Murray said on the radio today, he's not going anywhere...

Trade bait or no, I like the deal.
On the one hand, if he performs up to or beyond the standard of last year, that's a great price for him. He's a solid base to build the 3rd line and secondary PK line around. Shows up to play pretty much every night. Suffers from 'stone hands' on the breakaway - but if he didn't, we'd be paying him much, much more.
On the other hand, he's great trade fodder to fill any gaps the Sens find they have this season. He can buy us a decent D-man or some good muscle at that value.Wannabe Golf

I think its a solid signing, and another guy that Ottawa fans like to say underperforms. 63 points last year while playing on the 3rd line for the most part and a lot of time on the PK. One of the fastest skaters in the league and 6th in terms of face-off %. If he were on another team, he'd be getting $4M / year. I think he will step it up for the next 2 years and continue to improve.
