I got home at 5.50 or so, and turned on TSN HD just after 6. What's on? Off the Record. Hmm... OK, maybe it's still on Golf Channel. What's on? Sprint Post Game.

Compare that to the US Open or British which is covered wall to wall.

And none of us are asking for wall-to-wall coverage from American networks. CTV, TSN, whoever. They blew it when Golf Channel got their last contract, effectively got squeezed out, but geez, anti-up for the national title for crying out loud. Have some pride.

I don't really think TSN is to blame here. When the PGA Tour negotiated the first/second round rights to Golf Channel it was a package deal for all tournaments. There is no way TSN could/should have tried to get that. I think they were lucky to get the simulcast for the Canadian Open that they did get. They were able to show the Canadian Open in HD which is nice, but they only got what the Golf Channel gave them. And to the GC the Canadian Open is just another tournament, so they probably didn't see a need to extend coverage.
