North Side Sucks while South Side Blows
Here's to the memories spent in that lower deck.
My dad must be rolling in his grave at the thought of if being blown up. He was one of the first to sit in that lower deck when it was built. I was almost raised there throughout my childhood as my parents were die-hard Rider fans. He was a sesason ticket holder for over 40 years.
Sad to see it go.
But hopefully something even better is in the works.

Although I watched the Grey Cup from the North Side (snuck in) I still have my best memories from the south side watching the Riders with my sons. Pretty scary bunch down at City Hall now. Either Artsy Fartsy types or to young to remember how much the game meant to Ottawa. I am worried that they will bull doze it and make it into another park and erect another monument.

Ultimately the people should decide. If it was on a ballot at the next election... simple question are you willing to pay for a multi-use (not football only) stadium.. I could live with the results. Look at the other cities across the country that are much smaller, have much lower average household incomes, and can support a team. If the statium goes then events like the Rolling Stones, World Cup Soccer and other major events cannot come to the city. Don't see why we cannot enjoy the benefits of the stadium since we already have a site and 3/4 of a stadium already.

I was always a Northsider wimp (under the canapoy) but I loved the music of the Southsiders when they yelled in the rain "Northsiders s----". It's Lonnie's fault that it is torn down.

Nostalgia aside, don't forget the lower deck was demolished for safety reasons.
The question now is what, if anything, gets built in it's place. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

Just curious, are they going to blow up the rest or just leave it there?

So it would stand to reason that they'll retrofit. The CFL franchise granted to the Hunt group was conditional on having a stadium, and apparently has no deadline on that condition, and no condition that the stadium would have to be at Landsdowne. But, it would be awfully silly to leave it as it is now.

Heard a clip on the radio Thursday that Melnyk is thinking about getting an MLS team for Ottawa. Where would they play? Too bad that we don't have a good university stadium like Montreal does to fall back on. Hard to be first class with second rate facilities.
