I don't know if it is just age catching up with him, or a combination of the stack & tilt; injuries and bad putting, but holy cow! His play has really dropped off.

Well we know Norman will be around for at least one more day, so you can still cheer for him tomorrow. The weekend could be a different story but you never know...anything can happen at the British! Just ask VandeVelde.

When it comes to majors, I think Norman already knows anything can happen... unfortunately.

He definitely got the better end of the draw today. I'm not getting my hopes up that his good form will continue for 3 more days but... what a hell of a story if he does!

LOL! I was thinking the same thing! Goosen's running around in short sleeves, and Mike's wearing a freakin snowsuit. Too much time in Utah, I guess.

Can you imagine the how embarrassed the R&A would be if "OLD GREG NORMAN" went on to win the 137th Open Championship. My god, that would be the worst thing that could happen in professional golf wouldn't it?
I mean with all those young flat belly players out there struggling along at +5 and upwards after day one and there is The Shark cruising along at even par.

The good thing would be, in some peoples mind is the fact that Norman doesn't have a GUT.
My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

I think a win by Norman would be applauded by one and all. Let's face it, he's exciting to watch, and best of all, even at his advanced age he has the gonads to actually go out and compete. GO SHARK GO!!

And he chose to play in a major for which he was eligible!! What a concept!

I really believe that if KP was not looking at the Ryder Cup being played on his home turf this year, he might have put the majors on his schedule instead. IMO, he really wants to play in front of his home crowd, and he really wants to prove Azinger wrong, and he's probably taking the best route to get that done. The odds of him qualifying for another one that would be played in Kentucky, especially at his age, are most likely zilch.

I think this thread is getting off topic, but KP's Ryder Cup spot is assured... he's in the four hole now Ryder Cup points standings wise.

How about we just drop the Kenny Perry talk altogether.....getting tiresome.

But I wish I was home to see the British Open this morning. Sounds like conditions for the early groups were just brutal.

Usually there's an obscure 'wildcard' player or two in the mix on Sunday (VandeVelde, Lawrie etc.) any speculation as to who it might be this year? I'll say Ross Fisher. Whoever he is.

either them or add Monty to that list! For all the flak he takes in the U.S.A. I think he deserves it, he sure is a grinder! I would be pleased to see any of them take the jug!
