Did You Know....
....That the average golfer lives 5 years longer then people who don't golf!!!
I just had to post this when I heard it on the Radio while I was working.
These were the reasons....
1. Good Exercise, its a slow and steady workout, produces vitamin D and keeps you in shape!
2. Its a great Social Game that you can play with light mided people
3. You can play well into your golden ages instead of hanging up your cleats at an early age because of contact etc, etc.
So ya....apparently all those factors give you 5 more years of life.

I wonder. --if your above average --do you live that much longer? --and what if you are below average?
Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

Who are you calling light minded?
jk Bouche. I think the vitamin D is a big one. I was listening to "quirks & quarks" the other day on the way to the golf course, and they were interviewing a doctor about the human body & vitamin D. apparently, to get your RDA of vitamin D through food (200iu), you'd have to eat 10 eggs a day. Now, we're not all Hoolio, that could pose a problem for some. Orally, you have to get it either via cod liver oil or a supplement (vitamin). But 10 minutes shirtless in the June sun & you absorb 20000ius. It was fascinating stuff.
I'm officially off sunscreen (however I never really burn, so I don't recomend this strategy for everyone)
Anybody know of an area course where you can go shirtless?Andrew

The surgeon told my wife right after my double by pass that walking during as many rounds of golf as I had played quite likely kept me alive when I had my heart attack.
He knew I played a lot of golf and walked most of those rounds. He stated that walking kept my heart strong and without that fact I could have bit the dust.
Every Monday-Wed-Friday a group of 12-16 Super Seniors play at the course I work at. Golf keeps those guys active. Sure most of them ride but the fact is they have something to do 3 days a week. It gets them out of the house. In the winter they come down to the club and play cards. Not physical but an activity that keeps them doing something other than sitting around watching TV.
They are all in pretty decent health when you consider their ages.
My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.
