You didn't like Casino Royale? or are you referring to the wonderful masterpieces Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough, and who could forget Die Another Day.
I'm really glad that Hollywood woke up and decided that they would stop trying to ruin every franchise by dressing it up. The new darker approach to movies like Batman & James Bond is great. I also like that Marvel comic based movies are starting to get tied together, and we're set for an Avengers movie sometime in 2012 after they give Captain America & Thor their own films.
It's like someone clued them into the fact that it wasn't piracy that was solely responsible for people not going to the theater, it was really really really bad movies.Let's put a Smile on that Face!

I hated Casino Royale. I thought the character as portrayed was the stupidest James Bond in history. He kept getting caught and only lived thru the entire movie via pure luck. I thought it was the corniest, unbelieveable, most poorly acted piece of crap I had ever seen. I know others loved it, and I just assumed it was the same folks who thought 'Gladiator' was a documentary

Actually, I preferred the David Niven version....
It's just personal taste. People seemed to either love or hate the latest movie. Some of my friends thought it was the greatest Bond ever. Others, like me, thought it was mindless.
I thought it was just like any other Hollywood action piece of crap they are putting out these days. They are all the same, trying to be dark, but truly laughably unbelievable. See this week's latest... 'Wanted'.The opinions expressed in this post are mine and may not necessarily reflect the opinions of others on OG.

Personally, I enjoyed Casino Royale. Glad to see Brosnan out of the role. Worse Bond ever.

I re-read your comments a few times Reid. And I am not sure how you get "laughably unbelievable" out of Casino Royale, when comparing to any other Bond movie.
I thought that all of the action sequences were carefully designed to be only slightly beyon the realm of possibility. Which is what we expect out of action heros anyway. To do what the ordinary man can not!
There is nothing wrong with making a more serious, "darker" Bond as long as it is made well. And CR was such a movie.
As for poor acting, you are just about the only person I have heard of, who thought the acting was poor in this movie. Craig was generally applauded for his acting in this movie.
And to compare CR to Wanted is not even close. Not even close!

Consensus: Casino Royale disposes of the silliness and gadgetry that plagued recent James Bond outings, and Daniel Craig delivers what fans and critics have been waiting for: a caustic, haunted, intense reinvention of 007. But scribes also note "Casino" is hardly morose, with enough stunning action sequences and in-jokes to please the diehards. Some pundits even go so far as to say that Daniel Craig is the best Bond since Sean Connery."Chicks dig me, because I rarely wear underwear and when I do it's usually something unusual"

It's just one person's opinion rez (well, actually my wife hated it too). Don't lose any sleep over it
Yes... the action sequences were just slightly out of the realm of possibility... for Superman or Thor... . If it makes you feel any better I thought the same thing when Pierce Brosnan jumped into the airplane at the beginning of his first Bond movie.
In all honestly I can barely remember the movie as it bored me completely to death. I still think Daniel Craig's version of Bond was just slightly smarter than the character in the Bond spoof 'Johnny English'.
But don't let my opinion ruin your enjoyment of the next one . I'll pass myself. The opinions expressed in this post are mine and may not necessarily reflect the opinions of others on OG.

I don't know if you can put that on Pierce. I think he did a pretty good job with what the hack writers gave him. I have to say that I enjoyed Golden Eye, but everything that followed was pure crap.
Like almost everyone else here, I'm looking forward to QoS. I've just gone and put Casino Royale onto my zip.ca ZipList again in Blu-Ray.Let's put a Smile on that Face!

I remember jumping into that falling airplane, it wasn't that tough. It was on my nintendo 64 at the time... classic. If you didn't like Goldeneye, play the classic video game, THEN watch the movie...
I have to say I liked Casino Royale better than any previous Bond movie. but as my dad always said "degustubus non disputandem"
Thats latin for (roughly) there's no disputing taste. I guess he never reads message boards!Andrew

I loved CR. Especially, the foot chase at the beginning and the Aston Martin.
Live and Let Die, second.

I feel that the Bond movies grow really well with their time. When you watch the oldies you really feel like they represented the time period in which they were shot.
