Beginner Club Set - Recommendations?
Any recommendations on good sets for a beginner just getting into the game? I don't want to spend much more than $300. I see a few different Wilson sets, one of which is an 11 piece "X-31" set for $150 at Sport Chek, which seems to be pretty low price-wise (and the clubs don't seem to exist on Wilson's website). Anyone familiar with these?
Any tips or recommendations appreciated.
Thanks!

have a look on this site for some used clubs. I've seen some great deals on here and much better than anything from Sport Chek. Look for a set of 4 or 5-PW, get a 3 wood (likely no need for a driver just yet) a sandwedge and a putter.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

I'll second that - this is the greatest place to get clubs. Chances are if you mention what you want, someone in here will buy them new, use them once or twice, then sell them to you at a discount

Thanks. I'm a righty though.
I'm really looking for a complete set at relatively low cost to try the game out with. I've played before, and have been visiting the driving range a few times over the past couple weeks to get a feel, and want some consistency in what I'm using when I'm there.
Thanks for the replies.

I would suggest don't buy cheap from one of the sport stores ... I got a set and the PW, 8 iron and 6 iron all went the same distance ... two years later I discovered that they all had the same lofts.
There are more than enough deals on this site for you to get a complete playable used set. Scour it daily and you should have a good set in no time.Back at it.

LF starter set
I would suggest looking for a set of Ping Eye2 clubs. They can he had for less than $200, are great clubs and will hold their value.
