Best iron sets
Hi all
I am looking into getting a new iron set soon, and just thought I'd ask around what people thought would be a good buy. I don't golf everyday...yet but am starting to golf alot more (once a week at least). So what would you guys suggest that would be good for an iron set. My budget isn't very big and would like to keep between five and seven hundred. So any info would be greatly appreciated.
I've been keepin my eye on the "adams idea A3 boxer iron set" for $549 at golftown but thought i'd ask on here before just see what y'all have to say.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Buy a used mint set. You'll get more bang for your buck and have a greater selection. There are tons of guys on here who have lots of clubs that I'm sure they would be willing to sell you!

I agree with Denny, just check out the latest offerings at either "Chris" Town or "Geoff" Town and you'll likely find something you like.
Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

Funny... I have a few sets but probably not suited for someone just starting to get back into the game. If your are looking for a forgiving set of irons Geoff Johnston is probably your best bet...
Some people are like Slinkies... they're really good for nothing, ... but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs...

Chris, is there a post somewhere with your current inventory?
Or perhaps there should be a sub-forum in the classifieds just for you?Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

Perfect! And at that price you can't go wrong. Lots of budget room for a new driver or other stuff as well. I say buy them before they're gone!

I have hit those Bridgestones and they are sweeeetttt, you have to get those now as BG will not be making any more lefties. They are a mid size iron yet they look very good at set up and the perimeter weighting make them forgiving and a great feel. I had some Srixons that were almost twice the price and they were very similar so these are a great deal.

I have gotten oh so more for my money here and on tgn vs retail. The lure of the brand new and shiny gets old when after one or two rounds it looks no different than a mint set on here.
I get a big kick now out of a good deal vs a shiny new deal. Then you can use the money towards the other pieces of your arsenal.
I love both sites so consider perusing TGN as well for their offerings, some of the members here are even on there too under different or same names. Obviously if u are ottawa local it is a big advantage to see it before buying and to save on shipping. but keep your options open."Chicks dig me, because I rarely wear underwear and when I do it's usually something unusual"

Agreed. Personally, I went gang busters over the last couple of weeks, and picked up...
Ping G10 irons (4-GW): $450 (GT = $799 + tx)
Ogio Edge Bag: $140 (GT = $199 + tx)
Adams Idea #3 hybrid: $100 (GT = $199 + tx)
Cleveland Launcher 460: $85 (older club, no longer sold at GT)
I'll probably pick up a putter from here as well, at some point.
After three buckets and one round, I have been super happy with all of the purchases, everything was in primo condition, and all of the transactions went smoothly.
Good luck with the hunt!

agreed. I couldn't afford my equipment if I had to by it new. Used is the way to go imho.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.
