In Ottawa on biz next week... Where to play?

    Hey all.

I'm in Ottawa next Monday to Wednesday. It's my first visit to your fine city, and of course, i'm looking to play some golf (Monday as a single)

I have been told by a few people that Eagle Creek is the place to play, but it looks as though you need a membership as of this year. Bummer.

That being said, what are my best options?!?!?

    TIA!

Tnx. I'm honestly not too concerned about $$. I'll pay to play somewhere nice.

FWIW, i'm staying at the Delta Ottawa on Queen St? I'll be renting a car, but I don't want to drive an hour or more.

Those are indeed your best options.

If you wanted to head east, I would recommend Outaouais.
Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

I just called the hotel for you, the closest high end course is

    stonebridge (20min)
    Chataeu Cartier (15MIN)

    I'd go with stonebridge

    Don't bother with Cartier.

depending on what time you want to play, I could get a tee time at Eagle Creek, but it would have to be after 4pm.

    Let me know.

Mighty hospitable of you bbad. Actually, you aren't the first person to make this offer. I've accepted a round as a guest at Eagle Creek for mid-afternoon, and as such, I much decline your offer. However I thank you very much!

    Dan,

    Absolutely.

In fact, my host has even offered up (one of!) his backup bags so that I don't have to deal with bringing my own clubs, or shelling out for rentals. How's that for 'nice'? Very.

I'm really looking forward to getting my butt kicked by Eagle Creek all thanks to the Ottawagolf community!

Don't be intimidated by Eagle Creek... as long as you hit it down the middle, keep out of the bunkers and long grass, hit lots of GIR and don't have too many 2 putts, the course is there for the taking Oh ya, and stay out of the lakes and 20 mile long waste bunkers

    lol

Sounds fabulous! I'm a sucker for punishment. I'm not expecting to score well; tough course and different sticks, but it's all good!

Playing golf at a great track in a different city on a paid workday... feels like I'm somehow cheating the system!!

This should answer your questions. And what do you know, there's a spot or two available.

He just wants to see how far you actually hit it.

Your best bet is a weekend after 2pm, it is $65. Or after 12pm it is $80.

Twilight rates on weekdays start when there is 3 hrs of daylight left (4:29pm currently).

Thanks for the game Kevin, it was nice meeting you. Even more interesting that you too build your own clubs and play Wishons. It was a bit hot when the wind wasn't blowing, but one can seldom go wrong playing golf on what is normally a workday.

No, thank YOU for the game Lorne. It was great to meet you and I really do appreciate you getting me on to such a fine track. I had a really good time. Now back to that work thing...

    Cheers!
