Pro-line Lottery
I know this might not affect anyone because as a whole most golfers do not usually want anything to do with GAMBLING .
Anyway, the Ontario Pro-Line Lottery has a teaser on this weeks sheet. It states that betting on GOLF will start on the sheet available Feb. 5th. It says both the Pro-Line & Point-Spread options will be played.
Looks like lots of money to be made, RIGHT????
Good luck.
Should we set-up an on-going discussion, once the format is known??

Betting on golf w/ Proline, there is a God.
Since hockey betting hasn't been good lately.
I'm all for discussing once we get more info, any edge is good.
Man it's cold.

Here's an update from the SCORE Golf site...........
Professional Golf Wagering to Debut on Pro Line
Rick Young
Ontario’s Lottery and Gaming Corporation has always faced a serious post New Year’s dilemma with its acclaimed sports lottery brand, Pro Line: how to generate more wagering sales after the conclusion of the NFL season.
With the National Hockey League serving as its only marquee post Super Bowl component, the provincially run government agency has sought another sporting avenue to take the place of professional basketball, prohibited for use on Pro Line by the NBA as part of an agreement which brought the Toronto Raptors and Vancouver Grizzlies into the league in 1993.
It seems the OLGC has come up with a solution: professional golf wagering on Pro Line.
Beginning with the opening round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on February 5th, sports betting consumers with a passion for the PGA Tour will be able to make daily wagers on their favourite players in stroke play events through to the season ending Tour Championship.
Golf wagers will be based on two players, say Tiger Woods and Mike Weir, playing together in the same group of a specific round. Each player will have a designated set of odds and, as in Pro Line hockey and football, there will be five designated betting categories; tie, visitor win, home win, visitor plus and home plus.
The OLGC has made provisions for players who withdraw or become disqualified during an event.
Professional golf will also be made available through Pro Line’s sister brand, Point Spread, where players try and cover a ‘spread’ against an opponent, also in the same group.
Match play tournaments such as the WGC-Accenture Match Play, Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup or the Stableford-scored International will not appear on the lottery.
“The feeling is that this is going to go over extremely well, not just with golf fans but with sports fans as well,” said Carol Sales of the OLGC. “It’s the first time the lottery has gone to an individual sport as opposed to the usual team games.”
Professional golf wagering has traditionally been done through privately held bookmaking establishments such as England’s Ladbrokes or at similar type outlets in Las Vegas.
Though accepted as only a very small percentage of their annual sales, Ladbrokes enjoys brisk wagering during the four major championships each year, especially the Open Championship and Masters.
Also bet heavily is the biennial Ryder Cup matches pitting the United States against Europe.
Golf wagering on Pro Line is acknowledged to be the first time the sport has ever been introduced as part of a government run lottery. Somewhat surprising however is the PGA Tour granting the OLGC permission to have its players wagered on in PGA Tour events.
Having long frowned on its own members gambling during pre-tournament practice rounds, the Tour has been known to quietly doll out discipline (usually in the form of fines and reprimands) to members who make their $10 Nassau’s ‘too public’.
Protective of its image, the expectation might have been for the PGA Tour to move in a similar direction as the NBA when approached by Pro Line.
Currently, three events — the Bell Canadian Open, Samsung CPGA Championship and Alberta Classic — fall under the PGA Tour masthead in Canada (the Samsung and Alberta Classic being Canadian-based Nationwide Tour events).
Neither Bob Combs, senior vice president of public relations and communications for the PGA Tour or Senior Vice President and Chief of Operations Henry Hughes were available Friday for comment.
As part of the agreement between the two sides, the OLGC is restricted from using any PGA Tour related trademarks including those of its tournaments.
Though unsubstantiated by the PGA Tour or the OLGC, it may be reasonable to assume that the Tour is being reimbursed with some type of monetary ‘kickback’ for its players’ involvement in the week-to-week lottery.
Calls to the corporate offices of the OLGC were not returned. This may only be the start of golf betting on Pro Line. While the lottery will initiate its pro golf wagering with PGA Tour events in 2004, other tours, including the LPGA Tour, European PGA Tour and Champions Tour, could be included in the future depending on interest level amongst consumers.
looks interesting

The GOLF betting is the same as BASEBALL, in that a TIE includes either side winning by one stroke, not just an actual tie.
If you do bet on a TIE, you also have a winner if either guy wins by one.
Some early trends are very evident. Anybody paying over 2.00 is an underdog.
After 3 days, the favorites are all paying off with 24 winners. Only 5 underdogs have paid off.
So you can make some money, not a lot, but an awful more likely than other offerings.
The first bets have to be in by 10.30 so read this quick.
CHOICES: I'm betting on these so be warned
1) Weir (1.45) over Shegiki
2) Ames (1.50) over Ben Curtis
3) Cabrera (1.50) plays Immelman who had a 79 yesterday
4) Sergio (1.45) gets Tim Herron. 9th place vs 19th
5) Goosen (1.45) gets Maggert again who he beat by 5 shots yesterday.
The big guys are lumped together again. Tiger vs VJ (19th vs 25th) & Ernie vs Phil (2nd vs 2nd). Tiger by 4 on Saturday & Ernie by 3..........
6) ONE UNDERDOG stands out as they still have Fred Funk (2.2) vs. Jay Haas (1.40). Haas plummeted all the way to 34th place with a 76. Freddie is sitting 4th..
Those 6 picks pay 15.1X your bet.
Good luck & good viewing today (bets or not)

Played a ticket yesterday with Point Spread using some stats on 3rd round scoring, only got 2 of 5 right. Back to the drawing board. Will give Proline a whirl today.
