    Rain gear advice

I dont mind playing in the rain but I would like to stay dry. I am looking for advice for rain gear. I have a limited budget but I would like to get something decent that it would last for a few years.

    Regards

I went on ebay and found last years Nike Storm Fit jacket and pants. Both shipped cost me about $120. Jacket retailed for close to $180 and pants were $120 i think

Great stuff should get a while out of it

Go GoreTex or go home. Seriously, there is nothing better.

If you are worried about the expense, here is a bit of data. I paid ~$400 for my GoreTex rainsuit almost 7 years ago now and it is still going strong. If you buy a cheap one that lets water in you will regret it.

Look for deals and closeouts on the previous year's models and you can probably get a good value.

And this coming from a guy that will play in a monsoon. I'd take this as gospel.

agreed, GoreTex is the way to go. Pricey but worth every penny. I bought my Sunice jacket at GT 2 christmas's ago for half price. It was still $180 or something like that but I have played in some brutal weather with it and it is dry as tumbleweed in texas.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

I bought my Mizuno jacket and pants on e-bay 1 year ago for $100.00. It was designed with more room in the elbows and knees so that you still have full motion when swinging a club in the rain. I haven't had any problems.

I would just make sure the seams are heat sealed and the outfit is waterproof and breathable and fairly light weight.

Based on earlier discussions on this subject I ended up buying a SunIce Goretex suit which I can't wait to try.

But on a related question, what do you guys use to keep the noggin dry? Most golf hats soak up water pretty good.

I have a GoreTex bucket hat. Noggin stays plenty dry.

I should also mention that rain gloves are also a must for playing in the wet stuff.

What are the options out there?
    Just ZR and Sunice?

I've also heard the go Goretex or go home. I don't have Goretex, but believe it because I go home wet too often when it rains

I saw some nice looking Mizuno Rain gear, but saw no mention of Goretex. Not sure of the quality of it, but it looks sharp.

MEC has some pretty good prices on gore tex. I use MEC pants and a Sierra Designs shell that is more a ski shell, but works well for golf too. Gore tex is the only thing I use for rain or snow.

For golf specific gear ZR is the best. Sunice (Hurricane ?) is also good.

Forrester's is also very good as are some of the suits from FJ and Mizuno although all tend to be pricey.

MEC has good stuff too but depending on what fit you like it may or may not work well for golf.

    Thanks for the info.
Anyone aware of of some decent deals for such items ?
I guess it'd be this particular markets big season, so the deals might not be around quite yet.

I heard ZR is the best and will probably go down the same road as jvincent, and spend the money now and not have to worry about it for the next decade.

It for sure is. I've had one in the bag all year this year, but haven't had to use it. Hoping to get a good shell then I can take it out and not worry
