    The year of the "Tiger"

The votes are in and Tiger is the Player of the Year again on the PGA Tour. It must have been fairly close in the voting over Vijay. The PGA will not divulge the numbers but it would be interesting to see where everyone else finished in the running.

    Let's have our own poll.
If you had a vote who would you pick?

My senatmental favourite was Mike Weir. Realistically however, he needed to win another event later in the season. It's unfortunate that he did not.

It's in the interpretation of what is player of the year. I think attitude has a lot to do with it. Vijay is the hardest working man in golf, that's pretty well documented. But I dislike his attutude. Tiger cares mostly about the majors, at least it seems that way to me. I can't stand Love's beady little raven eyes, Furyk and Weir seemed to have the best attitude.

But it really came down to Tiger and Vijay. And the only reason Vijay was really there was the money title. In Vijay's 4 wins, Tiger was only in the field once. Vijay also missed the cut at the Players Championship.

In Tiger's 5 wins, Vijay was in the field for three of them, and the tournaments that Vijay was not in were the WGC - Accenture Match Play for the tope x number of golfers in the world, and the Buick Invitational.

Even though his play looked average at times, Tiger still performed better when he played. For that and not running a marathon, I feel the award was deserving.

    i'd have to concur...

though Mikey's performance in the Majors should be noted:

    Masters - 1
    US Open - T3
    PGA - T7
    British - T28

Funny how we know how much Tiger values the majors, but played pretty average

    Masters T-15
    US Open T-20
    PGA T-29
    British T-4

I think another win would have sealed the deal, or if his wins were more spread out. He seemed to do everything in the first 4 months or so. It would have been nice to see someone other than Tiger win, and it seemed this year could have been it.
