how to give my brother his putter??
so, his girlfriend bought him a SC putter but she won't be around to give it to him so the putter is being shipped to my place. I'm seeing him sunday.
There are a few options.
1. "hey check out my new putter..."
He will say, wow that is sick (I know he wanted one already) and I can let him try it and then tell him to put it back in the head cover and there will be a card from his girlfriend with his name on it in the head cover, he will open it and see that the putter is actually for him! SWEET
2. Wrap it up and give it to him
Just wrap it up so its obvious that its a putter and give it to him in the car and hadn him the letter
3. Get the proshop in on it and tell them to pretend it is a give away contest and that he won... he plays the round with the putter and then after the round I give him the card or put the card in his bag so he is sure to find it before the round is done.
4. Have him "find" it on the course. Knowing him he will try to return it.. not really sure where to go with this one...
Anyway, I need some ideas. She wants him to have it in time to play the round, she also wrote a card with is being mailed to me to give him as well. So, putter and card. best way to give it to him.
thanks peeps!willy

let him take some putts with it on the practise green (or at home on the carpet). Then, when you get to the course, you grab a scorecard. Find a moment to stash the card inside the scorecard. When you reach the first tee (or green, or heading down the fairway), ask him to score the round and hand him the scorecard, with card inside. Preferably, do this after you sink a putt to win the first hole.

I'll see what I can come up with.
The one downfall with that idea is that, if your brother is observant, you'll get stuck playing the round with his putter (if he would notice two putters in your bag and get suspicious, that is).

i carry two putters anyway so he won't catch on Belly putter for anything under 20 feet and 35" for anything over 20 feet. I have no use for a 3 iron or a lobwedge and still wanted 14 clubs

HAHA thats hilarious...I was carrying 2 drivers (one for my hook and one for my slice. lol) no seriously I had 2drivers because I hit one higher and shorter then the other so it depended on the hole. Thats pretty cool that you use 2 putters. Your missing out with the lob wedge though.
Another idea could be if you went to golftown and went to look around and obviously concentrate your time on the putters and then you should buy something cheap but "forget" your wallet in the car. Make your way to the car and put it on his seat so when you both go back to the car his jaw drops!

Sneak it in to his bag with his old puttercover on it - he'll pull it out on the first green and go WTF?
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

I wouldn't ask him what he thinks B-4 he knows its his.
in the unlikely event that he says he likes it but.... if HE were to get one he'd prefer a different length, grip,HC etc it would kinda ruin the presentation.

he is one of those guys who plays POORLY with his $30 putter so you give him a $400 (retail) putter and he will like it even if he can't putt with it because he can't putt with what he has now LOL

i would go with ur first idea... that way you can u know he'll see the card and know its his before he plays a round.. and he wont have to carry 15 clubs

You said his current putter is only $30.00? Before you go to the course, put the Scotty in your bag covered by a fairway wood headcover so he won't notice. Then if you have time before your round and you're putting around on the practice green, borrow his putter and mention that you're working on a new putting technique. Pretend to miss some short ones, act frustrated, then break or bend the putter over your knee (don't hurt yourself). His eyes will bug out and then you pull the card out of your pocket and hand it to him. Let him read it and pull out the Scotty and give it to him.

I like the idea of diverting his attention and swapping the new putter with the old one in his bag....works if he uses a head cover on his old putter. Then, just hand him the card. Oh, be sure to get lots of money on the round BEFORE he notices the putter. He'll be thinking about the surprise rather than the round!

Something tells me there is going to be an article on the local news about two brothers ending up in jail after a brawl over a broken putter. Maybe even with pics of SillyWilly with a putter shaft sticking out of his........... ear

Yikes!!
why don't you just toss the club far away (look first of course)
Then you could sell the old putter here.
Make sure to include GT list price for comparison purposes!
(I actually saw a guy cut his leg when he snapped a 3 wd. across his thigh)

I believe you might discuss the difficulty of bending a putter with Woody Austin. I think he found it rather easy to bend over his own head.

Every brother that I know of loves to 'nag' his brother.
Here's what I'd do to him: Tell him that you will play for beer...
Give him the putter at the first tee and tell him where it came from (you could use the card thing in the score card etc)....
After playing a few holes with him, you could call him on too many clubs in the bag.. You both win...he gets a SC and you get some free beer.
What are brothers for!!!!
