metal fence?
1) At mountain creek one of the holes has fencing along the right side but the right side is marked by red stakes as well Why is this??
2) a friend hit his ball and it landed very close that fence. He couldn't get a club on it. The fence was very flimsy and could be moved a little bit.. enough so that he could get a club on it alteast.
Did he have any other options here??willy

Is the fence inside the hazard or outside?
Unless otherwise noted in a local rule, the fence would be considered an immovable obstruction so you would proceed under the rules for those. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

Was the fence in or out of the hazard? Was it defining Out of Bounds?
It's an immovable obstruction- If an immovable obstruction is in a hazard or defining OB then you get no free relief
- If it's not in a hazard or defining OB, you get your Nearest point of relief for your stance and swing, plus a clublength.
Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

If the fence is an OB fence then you can't move it to improve your lie. If the stakes are actually hazard stakes and the fence isn't an OB boundary then you would more than likely get relieve from the immovable obstruction (the fence). I can't see why they would have red stakes right next to an OB fence though. They should probably be white if that's the case. Maybe you're colour blind Silly.
Which hole at MC is this situation as I don't ever remember seeing red stakes next to a fence???????

Not having played MC before, it sounds very similar to the left side of #15 at Loch March.
There is a lateral water hazard that runs along the 8' high boundary fence for about 200 yards or so. It's about 6-8' wide. There are white stakes just inside the fence line (so the fence itself is OB), and there are support posts that hold the fence vertical along that stretch. The support posts extend from the top of the fence, 45-ish degrees down to concrete bases that are just inside the hazard line on the right. When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

Round 2 of the Citizen is at Loch March this year.
I think our resident rules officials could easily satisfy their on course time requirements camped out on #15.Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!
