    Titleist 975 LF-E: Legal?

    Hello,

I am looking at Titleist 975 LF-E driver, but I am pretty sure there is an aillegal version of this club. Just by looking, I am unsure how to tell the difference: I was wondering if anyone knew how to differentiate the legal from the illegal version, or if I am wrong in my thought?
    Thanks

The RCGA site has a list of non-conforming clubs. Here is the link to the 975 driver that you are concerned about: http://www.rcga.org/english/Rules/conforming-clubs.asp

On that page you will find the following:

    Acushnet Japan, Inc.
    Titleist 975 L·FE H·CR 7.5°,8.5°,9.5°,10.5°,11.5° View Photo
Sole: (loft), Titleist, (elongated triangle) (elongated triangle), PRO·TITANIUM, 975L·FE Face: H·CR
Crown: triangle and line alignment mark

There is also a picture of the sole plate.

    Hope this helps.

    Wow, what a long list.

There sure are alot of companies making golf clubs that I have never heard of before.

It is a long list and a good one to check occasionally. A few months ago, one well known golf retailer in town was selling Titleist drivers (titanium and graphite) at an unbelievalby low price. I got suspicious and checked the list of non-conforming clubs. Sure enough, the club was on the banned list. Sadly, the retailer, who specializes in golf sales, never mentioned that in their in-store advertising.

    L-fe

    Thanks for the help,

Now that I know there is an illegal version; is there a legal version of the L-FE or are they all like this?
