Just got back from Prescott, greens were beautiful. I found the course to be in great overall shape for this time of the year. Not too much standing water and it didn't seem to come into play in any normal play areas. Can't compare it to mid-season form because this was my first time.
But once again, greens were mint.Let's put a Smile on that Face!

Played Dragonfly in Renfrew, yesterday April 16th. The greens still had the aeration holes in them from the fall, but other than that they were in great shape. Fairways were a bit wet, and some of the paths had detours, there were some soggy fairways, but overall very happy with the conditions. Oh yeah and a couple of greens on the back nine in the higher elevation still had some snow on them, but plenty of the green was bare (really cool to see, as I've never seen snow on a green while playing before!! They are allowing carts out on the course. And our feet never got wet so all in all it was good! Just wish I could say my score was in as nice as shape as the course was!!! Hoping to play Mapleview Sunday!!
Never dreamt I would ever get so hooked on this game!!

Just back from Malone. Fairways are dry, but not green yet. A bit matted in places, but not bad for April. Greens are generally good, if a bit slow and bumpy. Some winter kill and a few bald spots. Very playable and VERY busy!
But what an afternoon! Warm with wall-to-wall sunshine! We play with a couple of lads from Montreal and had a wonderful time. Stopped on the way home at the Mohawk Casino and scarfed down the $15.95 buffet! Back on the diet tomorrow!

just played Mc.....A little wet but to be expected. It was suprisingly very dry overall but the grass is very limited meaning you might want to resist using your lob wedge as much as possible. Greens are extremely slow and they were recently punched so its a bumpy road to the hole. The back nine is the only nine open right now. there is some snow in certain areas but i would say no more then 5 patches (1 bunker full of snow, one fairway-at the front, back of a par 3 and I think I saw another snow mound by a tee box) which I imagine will be gone by the weekend. Cheap golf...it was only 20$ flat. It was nice to be on the course again. And I managed four birdies on the front nine!!! WOOOO. Oh ya no par 5's. Par 68 and EXTREMELY short

Just played Loyalist today. April 17. WOW !!!! What a treat. Much much better than I expected. the greens were mint. pretty quick too. They were cut and rolled today. Fairways were perfect as well. No plugged balls anywhere. by far best spring conditions i have ever seen. Well worth the 2 hour drive and $40.

So Dragonfly is letting carts out, that's a good sign.
I want to play with an elderly relative on the weekend. Any idea if Prescott or Mapleview is allowing carts out? I know Mapleview was dry on opening weekend last year and DID have carts. How about this year? Just tried calling, their voicemail says they're closed for the winter. Guess they'll change that soon enough!
Any cart report would be greatly appreciated - getting in from night shift so off to bed I go and as soon as I wake up again, it's time to check the forum and try to make tee off times!!!!!
Please and thanks, y'all!!!

I didn't see any carts out at Prescott at all yesterday. I didn't ask because I had the 3-wheeler, but I imagine it won't be too long until the carts are allowed out.

I just got back from Mapleview and they are allowing carts out. They only had the back nine open and were just starting to let people in carts play the front as the bridge from the second tee box is under a few inches of water but the carts can get through it all right. The rest of the course is very dry although Jay did mention that they will have a temp green on #7 as there is still a bit of snow there.

Played Mountain Creek today, only back nine open. Not too much muck for spring, greens were punched and kind of jumpy.

Played Prescott today and the course was in really good shape for this time of year. As hoolio said the greenws were mint and I found them a little on the fast side. I putted really bad . Time to blame the first round on the new putter. I also didn't see any carts out and the course was packed.

Played Kingsway today. Good conditions overall. Some wet fairways greens were in good shape, some winter damage on a few holes. Pace of play was good - 4hrs. Just perfect.

I played Trillium today, I dont know if this really applies here but what the hell. Course was in GREAT shape, almost no water left around the course and the greens were perfect. Although a little slow for me they were rolling very nice. Played with my dad in under 4 hours too, cant ask for a better day, other then the crazy heat and dehydration.

Played my first game of the year at Prescott. The fairways were quite dry, except for a little bit of dampness on two holes. Greens were in surprisingly good condition and were putting true for the most part. Carts were allowed on the course. Well worth the short trip from Ottawa.

Manderly is surprisingly dry. RIght now they're usng the 18 driest holes. Two of the holes have been shortened, but there are no temps. Greens are very slow but otherwise were good for this time of year. Overall the course is in good condition but the $39 green fees are a bit much considering the conditions.

Champlain
Played Champlain Saturday And Today.
Front 9 is a little wet in the fairways, Ball will plug from time to time. Even the odd chunk shot. The Back is much worse and 17 and 18 are almost not playable from the fairway.
The Greens have not been cut very slow like putting off the Fairways of a bent grass course. Lots of leaves twigs all over the greens.
Give this course another 2 weeks to dry up. But if you are a die hard like me. Then it's good place to start practicing your swing for the season.

Played Canadian today and it was in pretty good shape.
There's still some snow in a few shady areas of the forest but there was almost no standing water.
Greens were a little on the slow slide but in great shape for this time of year. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

Played Pineview today. I thought it would be a soaker but was quite dry. Greens were a bit patchy. Good conditions overall for this time of year. Cost $25.

I completely agree with the opinions above about Manderley. $39 was a little much for this time of year and the starter even said that they pretty much decided around 3:30 to open the place up for people.
Greens are pretty shaggy, but with a couple of days of rain this week/weekend and a couple of hot days next week to get the grass growing so they can start choppin' the greens down and by May, the greens should be rolling really well.
I would give all 27 holes an opening date within 2 weeks (maybe by next weekend). One of the greens that I could see that wasn't playable was 1/3 covered by snow still

Manderly is not the only course charging full price. We played Iroquois yesterday and they charged their normal rate. As far as I know, Prescott is charging full as well (correct me if I'm wrong hoolio).
As for the course condition at Iroquois, it was pretty good I thought for this time of year. The greens were a bit slow and there were some patchy spots where water was laying. Other than that it was pretty good. They also have carts. It felt good to get out. Looking forward to another great year.

We paid $30 for green fees on Saturday at Prescott. This seemed pretty reasonable to me as the course was very playable. I am not sure what they charge in mid-season.

Played Champlain on sunday, the course is pretty dry but the greens are slow and spotty.

Played Kingsway - $21. All 18 option. Only 2 holes a bit wet. Greens were in very good shape.

Anyone play Vieux Moulin yet? Thinking of getting out there Thursday.
-

Played Vieux Moulin on Saturday and Sunday. Course is mostly dry with some wet spots on number 3 and 7. They have also moved up the tee box on 12 due to standing water, but this actually makes for a different look at the hole where it wraps around the water.
Greens are punched and a bit bumpy, but overall the course is quite playable.
Cost: $35.00 and you receive one free round of spring golf (net $17.50 per round).
