On Friday November 7th, 2003, The Metcalfe Golf & country club, a member of the National Golf Course Owners Association Canada, hosted a Roast Beef Dinner with all profits donated to the Canadian Landmine Foundation. Over 70 people attended the dinner, which combined with generous donations from dinner guests, raised over $1100.

Night of a Thousand Dinners (N1KD) is an international event that creates awareness of the global landmine crisis and raises much needed funds to support landmine removal and survivor assistance. The Metcalfe Golf & C.C. dinner was one of thousands held around the world.

“We would like to thank all of the attendees who attended the dinner,” said Rob Howell. “We are extremely happy to support the Night of 1000 dinners and make the world a safer place.”

The Canadian Landmine Foundation, an organization established with the full support of the Canadian federal government, is dedicated to the eradication of anti-personnel landmines throughout the world. It reinforces Canada’s leadership position in mine action, most notably through The Ottawa Convention created to ban the proliferation and use of landmines, and signed by over one hundred nations.

The Metcalfe Golf and Country Club is an 18-hole semi-private golf club located in Metcalfe Ontario. The Metcalfe Golf & Country Club is home to the Restaurant Hickories, which is open to the public throughout the golf season. Hickories is also open throughout the Christmas season for parties, dinners and catering.

The National Golf Course Owners Association Canada (NGCOA) represents over 1200 golf course operators throughout Canada and is the business voice of the industry. They feel privileged to be part of this very worthwhile fundraising effort on behalf of the Canadian Landmine Foundation.
