Frequency meter
Hi i have a golfsmith freq. meter and am wundering what reading is acurate.my readings without the grip are a full 1/2 flex higher than with a grip on at final club completion.how do you know what reading is right. also when i turn down the clamp screw until it ratchets i get lower readings than if i keep turning the ratchet clamp a few more times until it tightens up a little more and it will give me 5 or 6 more cpms.how do i know whats right. Thanks

Frequency should always be measured without the grip. Allow 6-10 cpms for grip dampening.I don't know about the GS but perhaps you should review the instruction manual:

For a more accurate butt frequency don't have a grip on it. The grip absorbs vibration and will skew the readings. The readings can have a descrepency as high as 10cpms with a grip on it. The ratchet is an indicator of when enough pressure is supplied, so turn it until you here it click.

To add to the Saint's reply. If you go past the ratchet click you might end up cracking a lightweight graphite shaft.
