I just looked out on to the street. Not a soul in sight, save for the ubiquitous snowy mounds. The drifts are so high that I cannot see our car. Even if I were inclined to shovel it out, I would be unable to go anywhere, since our street is unplowed. Our avenue is inundated with more than a foot and a half of snow. At this point, golf seems like an unrealizable dream. I am revising my tee-off prediction. We won't be on the course until the end of April at the earliest.

Remember twenty years ago when kids used to go door to door with shovels trying to make some extra money. Wish kids did that these days.

They still come by in my neighbourhood, but only if there is less than a few CMs and its $20. If there is lots of snow you don't see them anywhere!

Granted I do live in the "country" and don't have my lane way paved, (which makes a huge difference when it comes to cleaning it) but it just took me 2 hours to do the lane way with a snowblower. And I didn't even do a great job. I'll have to go back at it later.
As for golf, now I believe it will me April 29 before we are golfing.

I was 1 of those kids in the early 80's. I can't even get my own 18 years old son shovel out an area so the dogs can go do it's biz in the back yard! The funny thing is right now the snow is higher then our 5 foot fence so if the snow hardens he can simply wlak into the neighbours yeard LOL
Bad days golf, better then a good days work!

Ok folks,I do have some positives out of all this snow.#1;it is ice cover on the greens and fairways that cause the majority of the damage to the turf.A heavy snow cover is prayed for by golf course owners because it protects the grass.#2;there is hardly any frost at all in the ground where the snow is covering it.I've had to move snow off of some bush and clearings work, the is thawed topsoil underneath,in fact, pipe companies are trying to get rid of snow in an attempt to get the ground to freeze so they can install pipes without being buried in mud.(they are not succeding)My positive point is,when it does melt, the courses will be in playable shape much quicker than everybody thinks and in better condition right from the start.Cheers and cross our fingers for some warm weather. Jethro

Maybe if you attached a PS2 controller to the handle you might get them to handle a shovel.

Is nobody going to post any pictures ---I want to see what I am missing---they don't believe anything happens above the 49th parallel down here ...they thought Ottawa was on Victoria Island. We do have satelite TV----happened to turn it to the right station last night----it's even bad news here ---Coyotes 1--Ottawa 0----just kept going Didn't even bother to check this morning.
My good neighbour says my snowblower is under 6 feet of snow if anyone is interested
    Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

It was 70/71 but yeah, this is freaking nuts.

    From The Citizen
The two-day total accumulation of both systems was 51 cm, and as of Sunday morning Ottawa's total snow tally for the season was 407.3 cm. That is second only to the winter of 1970-71, when we got 444.1 cm of snow.

I feel like starting the Spring Opening calendar with a full page saying something like "Move along, nothing to see here...."

I think maybe Mid-Summer Opening calendar would be appropriate

I haven't voted yet. No clue what's going to happen in the next few weeks. I want rain and 5 degrees for a week straight.
