    Captain Freddie

I don't think he was going to get a shot at captaining (is that a word?) the Ryder Cup, so I guess this is the next best thing. I wonder who the internationals will pick. Norman?

I wonder why someone like Freddie wouldn't get a shot at captaining the Ryder Cup? He's got way more wins than Paul Azinger and guys on tour seem to love him...

I think the PGA likes to reward guys who've won the PGA with the Ryder Cup captaincy. I'd say DLIII and David Toms are higher on the ladder than Couples.

If DLIII ever captains anything I would be greatly surprised!!! He has the personality of a tree.

I love Freddie and personally think he would be a great captain.

David Toms?? Come on how could he be ahead of Freddie, just based on past merit and past president's cup/ryder cup performance?

Couples has 3 more victories (15 to 12) than Toms, and has played on a couple more Ryder Cup and Pres Cup teams (5-3 and 4-3), they each have a major. It's not like there's an ocean of difference in their careers. Plus, Toms is only 41, so he can still add to the total.

And I'm not saying it's the best system, but the PGA definitely favours PGA winners as captains. I think they do it to try and add prestige to the '4th' major, but for whatever reason, that's what they do, and Couples never won one.

I don't think we'll ever see the Beemer as a Ryder Cup captain though.
