I agree that it all depends on the handicaps. Ideally it would be great if we could play everything straight up but this doesn't seem likely.

I like the idea of using all the different types of format. I think that the higher handicap teams have an advantage at the best ball format while the lower handicap teams have an advantage in the alternate shot format.

What did we do last year? 1st round best ball, 2nd round alternate shot?

Last year was:

First day front nine was best ball, second nine was alternate shot. Second day was first nine alternate shot, second nine was best ball.


Or how about this for upping the intensity:

First day:

Front nine alternate shot (modified alternate shot, like last year), second nine would be best ball.
Second day would be 18 holes of single match play. We would go in order of lowest to highest cap on each team and they would play each other. Or we could just do a random draw for the singles. You may end up with a high cap playing a lower one, but it would add to the excitement not knowing your opponent until the morning of the event.

But in general the rules will still be the same. Teams cannot have a combined cap of more than 18 using the formula we agreed upon last year.

Black Bear changed the par 6 to a par 5 last year. Same hole just that there were too many birdies and eagles as a 6. Unless of course, your wearing a dress, then it's still a par6.

If it weren't for the fact that I like warm showers and comfy beds, I'd suggest booking a campsite so that we can deep fry a turkey (or two) for dinner after day one.

Imagine the hilarity that would come from mixing golfers, beer, other random liquor, and boiling hot oil!

I like this idea. Just buy a blow up mattress and you'll have your comfy bed. I use one when I camp and it's almost as good as my own bed at home. Anyone else interested in roughing it?

A few have asked what is the deadline to let me know if someone can play. Right now there isn't one, but I will be setting one and it will most likely be around the beginning of April. So hopefully this will give anyone enough time to go through their personal schedule and be able to let me know if they'll be able to particpate or not.

And those interested in playing that did not play last year need to PM me ASAP to get your spot on the list. I've already had 4 or 5 requests for the spare list.

Another thing we might want to factor in for this event was the amount of bugs Trillium had last year....after playing both days, I was high for a week after showering in bug spray. Aside from the bugs, love the course....hard not to want to play it.

Are there any other courses that we could consider for this event, that would be halfway for both sides competing? Somewhere in Kingston perhaps?

Would be great if some of you guys on this fourm in and around those areas could chime in with some suggestions.

As for the May 24/25 datesw though, I'd consider that pretty much firm.

I didn't find the bugs unbearable. Maybe they didn't like the hops/barley oozing out of my pores though.
