Definitely "manned up" with Commodore. He's a tough customer.

I could be wrong but I think Fisher and Stillman are buddies from Peterbrough. Good trade for the sens!

24 yearold for a 35 yearold.... I guess the sens have decided they win the cup this year. When you trade away young talent for vets you end up like Toronto.

Murray says that although he likes Eaves he had him projected out as a career third line player with an outside chance of being able to "fill in" on the second line. If that turns out to be the case than we didn't trade away very much at all.
I'm loving the size and grit that Commodore brings
Well done Brian!!

I think this is a good trade. Big defenseman and Stillman is a good player. He will bring some offence for sure. Also won 2 cups (Tampa Bay and Carolina), always good.

i really like this trade, not only did they get two good players that WILL help the team out this year, but they are getting 2 UFA's and trading away a RFA and a guy who had a cap hit of 2.65million for the next 2 years, maybe this gives the team enough money to re-sign Redden... i wonder if this trade was made because Redden didn't want to go, so Murray and him talked about re-upping once he had the cash.
Just speculating, but now they have an extra 2.65 as well as not needing to re-sign Eaves could be another 2million, so there's an extra 4.5million to sign Redden if they want to. If not, this gives them enough to bring a good free agent in next year, or another UFA for the stretch run.

nice trade.....makes them stronger and tougher....But they still need a second line goal scorer and I don't think it's Forsberg... I would not sign him...to big a risk

I was hoping the big trade was Redden. Johnny Cough-up is not worth the almost 7 mil he makes. i heard he will take a pay cut to stay but that it would around the 6 mil range. you ask me he owes about 4 mil a year since he signed that big contract and as still yet to produce.

Forsberg is down to 2 teams.
Philadelphia or Avalanches...
I think he is going back to Flyers...

Murray said today that Corvo's agent had asked on more than one occasion for him to be traded to an American team. Says he felt like he never really fit in here, which he didn't.
I think this trade is good for both teams. It gives Carolina help for the future and the Sens the help they need immediately. Murray also sounded like he wasn't finished dealing, and there's a good chance he'll be making at least one more deal before the deadline.Al Gore didn't invent the internet, but he did invent global warming.

what about Ollie Jokinen, Glen Murray or dare i say Mats Sundin??
I think Alfie/Spezza/Heatley and Fisher/Stillman/Jokinen would be a pretty good 1-2 punch. I don't think Sundin would go to Ottawa, nor do i think he would wave his no-trade clause to go somewhere and be a second-liner

If you think Redden is this bad - Than how would you be able to trade a player that is this bad ???
Was told last night that Murray did not like Corvo and tried to trade him in the off season and there was no takers????
Vermette is next to go- I think -
Would you trade some Youth to Win now ? I would do it.

Unfortunately I think your right. I like Vermette, he plays hard and he comes to play every night. But now that E«ves is gone, they may have to keep him around for the PK.
I think it is reality in the 'new NHL' there is no more building a dynasty, it is win this year cause you may lose half your players next year.Proud member of the 2009 OG/TGN Ryder Cup Champions

Vermette is not a guy who I want to see go (I don't think anyone does), but if the right move is there, it has to be done. I'd rather he wasn't traded for a rental (someone who'll be a UFA at the end of the year), but we'll see what happens. He's definitely good trade bait.

I'm really just glad that we now have a GM who is willing to make trades, and realizes that you do have to give something up to get something. It's a nice change from the past few years.

From what I heard on Team 1200 today, Corvo had asked for a trade a while ago to a US team. Almost from the start he said he didn't like he fit in here. Just what I heard on the radio today.

The way he played in the most part of the play-offs I dont think it was because nobody wanted him, more like there was nothing to get for him at the time. He is a good player, the sens just have way to many offensive defencemen, I think he will do ok in Carolina.
does anyone know what the Sens have left for cap space this year?

Well I'm sure that's not the start they wanted with the new employees last night.
