Background Checks
Does anyone have experience in, or know the best method for getting a background check done ?

I'm pretty sure you need the Social Security # or if your business checking on a client; contact your bank---I used to do with the credit bureau--but that was years ago--it may have changed with "the new privacy policies"
Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

I had to get one done for a job a few years ago. Just went to the police station on Greenbank and they did it there (I can`t remember how much it cost, though).

I assume it is for you personally...
If it is for volunteer work it is free... Big brothers, Sunday School teachers etc.
I think its $5 regular price and I went to Greebank too they have the forms, bring
2 pieces of ID one with a picture
takes about 2 weeks and background check sent in mail.

For $5.00, I'd like to get one sometime to see if those taxi-rides I got from the boys in uniform ever got recorded somewhere.

Yes, go to the police station. I think the cost is $30.

Actually it's for a local day care provider who is an US citizen, so idealy I'd like a background check that covers North America.
There are a number of on-line companies that offer complete N.A. checks, but I contacted the Ottawa police about having a background check done and their advice was to avoid these companies.Al Gore didn't invent the internet, but he did invent global warming.

The RCMP and CSIS do N.A. checks but they are a bit expensive if I am not mistaken. I know at work, when we do a background check, depending on what type of clearence we are looking for, it can cost anywhere from $75.00 to $500. and some take months. Basic reliability clearence should be $75 and take a couple of weeks.

I would go through the RCMP. Talk to a Federal Government employee, he might know where to go.
Good luck...
