In line with what Colby is saying, I believe that the decision to join a private course is a lot more then just a cost/round question.

For many golfers, myself included the cost per round alone would not justify the initation + annual dues. I realistically will play 40-50 rounds this year. It is the intangibles - league play, competitions, social activities, comaraderie - that makes the investment worthwhile.

So, are you getting close to a decision?

If my husband was ready to play more golf we would be more likely to join and socialize more. The cost would be easier for him to stomache if it was for him too It always seems a lot less when you are paying round by round. He doesn't notice those increments.
