PGA tour to revisit cut policy

The PGA Tour debated for several years whether to reduce the number of players on the weekend. Less than a month into the new policy that has caused such consternation, it's about to be reviewed.

    New cut policy.

I saw John Daly at the Sony complaining that neither he nor other players at the event were informed properly of the new tournament "cut" rules. If I recall, he scrambled pretty hard on Friday to shoot a round that he thought would advance him into Saturdays field. Only to be told that he did not make it. No one contacted him of the new rules!!?? Who informs these guys? This is his livelihood, his job! He sounded very upset with the new policy in place to decide who makes the cut and who is playing on the weekend.

I think that this is just another "Ploy" from the entertainment business, the big money machine to try to wrap up the golf tournament in the allotted time frame so that they do not have to pay out more dollars to extend the T.V. coverage.

It is bad enough that in between putts upon putts, we see too many of the T.V. sponsors, over the top T.V. analyzers, and on the ground roaming ranters. They focus on 5% of the top players walking down the fairway (even if they are not in the lead) and they choose to ignore the bottom 95% of the tour players. They do not consider T.V. coverage of good drives and approach shots from all the rest of the field worthy of telecasting.

So, because of the new cut policy we will probably see more tournaments like the Buick ending 20 minutes early because of the shorten field, with more "uninformative fill ins" ...... not to mention Buick" ads.
