Concession of a hole, match or stroke in match play

Just throwing this one out for discussion. How is a hole, match or stroke conceded in a match. If I go over and pick up your ball marker is that conceding the next stroke? If I pick up your ball is that conceding the next stroke or hole?

Picking up your opponent's marker or ball during the course of a hole signifies that you are conceding his next stroke on that hole. The hole itself may not be finished at that point if you still have to make a stroke to tie/win the hole, even if you have already conceded his next stroke.

Now, if you pick up your own ball during the course of a hole, unless you are doing it in accordance with some other rule that would allow you to re-place, drop, or substitute it for another one, then that is considered as conceding defeat on that hole to your opponent.
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

    Rule 2-4 covers it...

2-4. Concession of Match, Hole or Next Stroke

A player may concede a match at any time prior to the start or conclusion of that match.

A player may concede a hole at any time prior to the start or conclusion of that hole.

A player may concede his opponent's next stroke at any time, provided the opponent's ball is at rest. The opponent is considered to have holed out with his next stroke, and the ball may be removed by either side.

A concession may not be declined or withdrawn.
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

Doing what you said above plus comments like, "Pick it up," "We're done," That's good," are acceptable although the last one could be meant as a compliment to a good shot, so be careful.

Way back in the 1960's concessions had to be made by knocking the ball away or the equivalent. A verbal "That's good," was unacceptable. In fact, there was a huge controversy one time when a player at the club said, "Pick it up," and then called the guy for doing so. What a jerk!!
