While you're waiting for your truck's arrival, Nat, here's a video review (a positive review at that) by ConsumerReports.Org of the Chey Silverado: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/v...tid=1407950671 .

nicer than your car....
Bugatti Veyron $1,700,000
The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is the most powerful, most expensive, and fastest street-legal production car in the world, with a proven top speed of over 400 km/h (407 km/h or 253 mph). It reached full production in September 2005. The car is built by Volkswagen AG subsidiary Bugatti Automobiles SAS and is sold under the legendary Bugatti marque. It is named after racing driver Pierre Veyron, who won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939 while racing for the original Bugatti firm. The Veyron features a W16 engine—16 cylinders in 4 banks of 4 cylinders.
According to Volkswagen, the final production Veyron engine produces between 1020 and 1040 metric hp (1006 to 1026 SAE net hp), so the car will be advertised as producing "1001 horsepower" in both the US and European markets. This easily makes it the most powerful production road-car engine in history.willy

no it isnt.... i want a sports car.... but im a quebecer.
yes, but what the veyron does with a W16 with 4 tubros and 10 radiators, a koenigsegg CCX can do with a V8 powerd by bio fuel... and its 40% the price, and it currently holds the world fastest speeding ticket at over 240MPH... thats fast enough. and it only has 2 less horses
stock off the rack running on US 91 octane fuel and complying with California emission regulations it is the third fastest production car

Yah like the guys I was listening to in the parking lot at a golf course discussing thier trucks and comparing the sizes like they were in the locker room snapping towels at each other's butts.
It was hillarious. What a waste of money and gas.Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

Why is it a waste of money???
-
04-01-2008 01:50 PM #104
It would not be a waste of money on a construction site or farm. I find the desire for such behmoths as status symbols deplorable.
Just my opinion. That's all.
I notice you didn't question the waste of gas.Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

I agree with you in principle Dan, but having grown up in a small town, and currently residing in one, everyone has a truck.
I wouldn't want one as a high mileage, primary vehicle, but if I ever get my country home, I will definately own a 4x4 truck.
& the thread is called car of my dreams, I am pretty sure the Bugatti Veyron is not the most fuel effecient vehicle out there.Andrew

I'm with Dan 100% on this topic. No reason for the average joe to drive an suv or truck.

What?? If someone is very rich its ok for him to buy a 1.7mil car and pay for jet fuel to put in the tank but an average joe can't have a truck for the simple reason that he wants one? Its true, he may not need one... but he could still want one. NOBODY needs a bently or a ferari but people want them. I wouldn't mind a GMC.. might be the frist brown person ever to drive around in a truck though LOLwilly

Well you would be 100% wrong on why I'm driving one of these Beasts....After being hit on the 401, I went to the big boy...I was driving a Chevy 1500 and did OK in the 1st accident. Transport was fine...So the next time I wanted something bigger...Decided on the Avalanche...Glad I did..Was hit straight in the Drivers door by a Toyota Mini van...The Van was trashed. My "Status Symbol" took the hit, and the damage was only in the door..O forgot she was doing 80kmh when she hit me...I was stopped at the end of my driveway...
So maybe you are right about some people, but not all of us.....Could have been killed both times and I believe the only reason I was not was because I had the smarts to be driving a BIG vehicle.
It's been 5 or 6 years since and still have headaches that you can not believe, but it's better than dead..I guess????

I'll agree that not everyone should own a truck. For example, if it takes you more than one try or more than 10 seconds to back a Pontiac Sunfire into a normal sized parking spot, don't even consider it. In fact, just stop driving altogether if that's the case.
After putting $100 in gas into this truck on Saturday and looking at a needle that says I'm in need of a fill-up today, I don't think I'd ever buy a full-size truck. They are damn fun when someone else is picking up the tab for the gas though.Let's put a Smile on that Face!

I would not say a large truck is a status symbol. It is def. a luxury though if you aren't in a job where you tow 10K+ a day or carry a few thousand pounds in the back.
I want a truck b/c they have more uses than a sedan...the choice to go w/ a 1/2 tonne was a choice based on comfort, which also comes w/ more uses, more room for apssengers etc ... but if I iddn't want to spend the $$, I'd be driving a ranger or similar instead as I'd still view a budget truck as much more valuable to me than any sedan.
One thing I've never understood is the appeal of a 2 door sedan...yuk!NCGT Ryder Cup Team Green (06,07,08)
