    Stupid question- are all VWs after 1999 pre-wired for CD changers?

    Yes, I believe so... if your head unit supports it. Easiest way to find out is to check in your manual. Which model/year do you drive?

    If so, chances are quite good that it supports the changer. Look in the trunk, and there should be areas on the left and right that can be opened up. In my old Golf the area on the left hand (drivers side) side of the car had the wiring for the changer in there.

    If the wiring is there, it's a simple matter of plugging the wires into the changer and then screwing the changer in to the bracket.
