It's good to know that they haven't been resting during the last week.

This is the time for Paddock to prove that he deserves to be a head coach. The team is in a funk, and he's got to find a way to get them out of it and start believing in themselves again. Time for some kind of unorthodox team building exercise. Ditch the next practice in favour of a game of paintball, or let the players bring their families out for a skate in lieu of practice. Get the guys relaxed and having fun again.

Here is the online Citizen article following todays loss.
    http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/...972e2d&k=36332

Title "Crisis time in Hockey Country"........."This has not happened in the nation's capital since 1995-96, when the Ottawa Senators had losing streaks of nine, eight, 11, and seven games in a 56-loss season."

How quickly the tide has changed.................Only a couple of weeks ago the media was talking about challenging the 1976 Habs win record.........

This nice road trip, gosh I'd love to be down there too, is just what the doctor ordered (gulp, I hope).

Can anyone tell me when the NHL trade deadline is this year?

Yes, on paper another loss, but Sens played like they know how in the third period.
Alfie played great..........Emery kept them in the game, and lit a spark under the team when he swung his stick. Do not blame him at all. Do the refs have a different set of rules allowing Superstars (Vincey) to stand in the crease on that Tampa Bay goal.............???
What the heck is happening to the league..........Years ago Billy Smith would have broke the back of Vince's legs.........Just ask Gretz when he got too close.......

Redden made a great play driving to the net for the goal to send the game into overtime. However, thats about it for him. It looked like he finally woke up with a few minutes left in the game. His overall play had been brutal...........First there was his blind pass into the slot right to Hlavac then over to Darche and into the net.......Then did you see him fan on the easy pass at the 15:00 minute mark in the third. It looked like something you would see at a kids tyke game...............

Now if only the can take the way they played in the third into the next game.
That means fighting for the puck, banging their man into the boards. If they do that the goals will come because they do have the players who can put the puck in the net.

who took the shots in the shootout? I didn't get to see the game. Based on performances I've seen in the shootout, I'd love to see him send out McGratton, Neil, and Phillips next time. You can't have your superstars continuously blowing it in shootouts.

Redden made a great play driving to the net for the goal to send the game into overtime.
Word on the street is that the Toronto FC MLS soccer franchise called Brian Murray to see if they could get Redden for their team next year. That was one of the most cleverly constructed kick ins I've ever seen. He angled his foot to assist the puck going in. His stick never touched it. It was only a good play because he pulled the wool over everyone's eyes about it.

And when did we begin praising stick swingers? If this is the case, Donald Brashear is the best player ever!...The announcers were saying how great a play it was to swing his stick to show the frustration...wtf?

Alfie did look like a man on a mission tonight though.

If it was February he would have been picked up already. To much money and does not help this team as a player. Maybe as a leader going into the playoff's.
    But not now.

    Just my two cents...

    well said,

first off, there was no interfeence on the play, emery did not even touch him as he slowly masde is way across the crease.

nxt, it is rediculous to praise soemone for attempting to intentionally hurt soemone, like you say, in this case brashear is a god, mcsorly is a king, etc,

not sure how ottawa fans can on one hand crucify steve downie for running into mcham and eggs and on the other continunally praise emery for his illegal plays

It's totally legal to angle your foot and deflect it in, there just cannot be a kicking motion towards the net.
It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

He kicked the puck to his stick and shot it into the net. You could see it pretty clearly on the overhead camera shot. It was so obvious that they didn't even bother with a video review.

It's not really much cash at all. he's getting 1.7 this year. Of that, 1.2 is left. Of that, the Pens will have to pay half (as far as I understand it). So, for 600K, give it a shot. They need to do something to stir things up right now.

The Pens only have to pay half if he clears waivers, gets sent down, is called back-up and then gets claimed on re-entry waivers.........

Now I know why Scott is everyone's golf buddy..............He is nice to you guys because needs you out on the course to follow his ball flight.................Must be that Leaf Fans "myopic vision" problems.........

First seeing the Canadien's player make a great "read" on McCabes pass.......
    http://forum.ottawagolf.com/showpost...6&postcount=25

and now seeing Redden kick the puck in the net with "his stick never touching" the puck...............

    Sincerely Yours,

PEI - One of those "dense guys" when it comes to McCabe......

Then angle that was in the replay loop on Sportsnet last night did not show the puck ever coming close to the stick. I did not see the overhead shot, so if anyone has a link to that view, I'd love to see it and would appreciate it.

Colby, in response to your post, I can accept that as the truth if it is. My problem then lies with the rule itself. If a puck truly deflects off of a skate and in, under ignorance of the player who's foot gets hit, then it's a goal, a deflection, lucky shot to get the deflection. If you can "escort" the puck into the net by purposefully angling your foot at the goal, but not allowing your leg to make a kicking motion, where is the actual difference in the intent of the action? I find that ludicrous. But I guess that's just me! lol.

    Back to PEI...

I suppose the link to the other thread regarding what I said about the Canadiens player has some relevance to this thread (although very little). I appreciate you keeping tabs on the posts I make you disagree with. Although, I'd even more appreciate it if you kept a post entirely intact within the thread so that people could see the frame of reference with which the post was made.

Now back on topic, tough streak right now huh? Someone mentioned getting a big defenceman...who do you get rid of when looking at that? Lets say Dion Phaneuf is available, who do you THINK is requested from Ottawa in that trade, and then who would you trade to get him? I think it would be very interesting to see the differences that might be mentioned on the board for this.

I would think that higher up the pecking order of "talent" than Redden would be required to pull this thing off. I don't know what kind of package would help either. Maybe something with a playmaker and a solid D-man to make up for it. You could have Phaneuf for about as long as you've had Redden, so in that sense, he's a good guy to go after. But I just can't see Ottawa having anyone that Calgary could use other than really significant names (Spezza-esque). Phaneuf's physical play is just too much for Calgary to get rid of I would think.

Therer is not much on the Ottwa line up that calagary would deal for ( deal Phaneauf that is) .

spezza? no doesn;t fit into there type of play, healty, maybe, but look at salary, to high for them, other than that what? not going to go for alfredson, they have a captain.

phaneauf is the back bone of the defensive minded flames, no way they let him go.
