Car Dealership - US Prices.... GRRRRRRR!
Okay, so I'm driving to Home Depot this morning, passing 417 Infiniti. They have a sign outside "announcing US pricing!". Okay, I flip because I want a Q 56 badly! I go in, talk to the salesman and ask what the new price is. An $8,000 discount if you pay cash. I just laughed at the guy and walked out. How can they get away with that false advertising???? Talk about a big tease!!!!!

Donny - my Dad just bought a new QX56 in Portland Maine - he's down there picking it up now.......after factoring in air fare down, a weeks accomodations and spending money for my mother he figures that he's 22-24K to the good.......now he is a licenced dealer so he doesn't have to pay any taxes or importing fees but still

When are you guys going to learn---"Never trust a car salesman". I actually dread the thought of having to go and buy our next car. I would be better off paying somone to do it for me.
Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

My buddy just bought a brand new Subaru WRX from the States for 24k including all duties and fees.
I'm looking at picking up a Jeep SRT-8 which is selling for 62k here. It's 41k there plus 6% Provincial Tax and $192 fee for the paperwork.
If you buy anything that is made in North America, you don't have to pay duties.

My son just save $11k on a Toyota Highlander. The more of us that do it the more pressure that it will put on the Japanese, who are ripping us off much more than the "big three" are.

For those who are considering purchasing in the US , make sure your vehicle conforms to Transport Canada regulations for safety etc . There was an article in the Montreal Gazette a few weeks ago , were some poor sod went south to buy a honda , and unknowingly bought a model that doesn't meet Canadian standards . So he can't register it in Canada , kicker is that honda alerted TC as to the sale of the vehicle, which is actually made in Ontario ! Do your homework before you buy.

You can get aound the Transport Canada restrictions placed on behalf of the Car companies. Also you can avoid the Japanese companies restrictions on US Dealers selling to Canadians, by buying from a Dealer a little furthur South.

The two biggest issues are daytime runnng light and emissions on the safety side, and the manufacturer honouring the warranty in Canada for a car bought in the US.
Do you homework and check into everything before you buy.

A buddy of mine just ordered a Suburu Outback loaded to the max...... $US 29,000 at a Rochester NY dealership. As for warranty service, when required, he can pay a Suburu Canadian dealership service centre up front and then claim reimbursement from Suburau USA. That's the way it works with Suburu USA.

Very easy to check out Subaru prices at this site, this dealer even knows how to get a car to Canada, what needs to be done and how to do it. They love to sell to Canadians, it has become a big part of there business

Here is another site that directs on how to import to Canada and includes liks to what cars can and can not be imported to Canada.

I feel the big thing on a new car will be Canadian warranty coverage, you will need to find a Canadian dealer who wishes to cooperate.
I am currently located in Florida for the winter and have been looking at Used car prices. You can save a bundle on a used car.
Here is an example I have looked at, a 2001 Audi S4 selling here for $11,000US, while the wholesale value according to the Canadian Black Book is in the low $20,000 Canadian range.
Just be careful lots of things to look at, some Mercedes in the US only have a MPH speedo, this will not get you through a Canadian inspection, it must have km per hours markings.
good luck out there

Hey Donny - the old man just got home with his new QX-56 he said that he actually beat my sister through customs (she met my folks down there and did the Black Friday thing with my mom).
He said it was the easiest 30K that he's ever made

Very nice, that's the truck my wife is going to get as soon as the hybrid version comes out. She's from a loyal Toyota family. Can't wait until she gets rid of her 4 Runner.
