Biggest Golf Accomplishments for 2007
Seeing as how the season is winding down, I was wondering what your biggest golf accomplishment was this year? It could've been a big match play win, you won your club championship, you scored a personal best. Let's hear them.
For me, I have two:
1) Making the Intersectional team at my club at actually having a chance on the 18th green to go undefeated for my matches, with this being my first time ever competing. Alas, I missed my putt, but it was a great experience.
2) Finally shooting under par in a round. I actually did it twice this year, with a round of 69 (-2) and a round of 67 (-4).
Almost forgot:
3) Being part of the winning team in the battle of the golf forums in Belleville!!!Last edited by Big Johnny69; 11-08-2007 at 12:00 PM.

Won Closest to the Pin in the "Thanksgiving Classic" and don't remember doing it. Don't even remember the 6 holes prior to that.
I went under par a couple times this year, but that's not as impressive as a personal accomplishment.Let's put a Smile on that Face!

I don't know if this is considered an accomplishment, but it does take some sorta talent. I always followed up a score in the 70's with a score in the 90's. Always.
Finishing just out of a playoff (with Mattchew) at the Sun Scramble, despite not playing our best. I did mangage to win two NCGT events, and being apart of the winning team in the Battle of Belleville.
Sounds like a good year, but it was actually rather dissapointing. My handicap managed to get to 11.1, so, not much change - but was never confident this year.My name is Paul. And I'm a golfaholic.

Broke 90 for the first time and then did it 6 more times. had back-to-back birdies for the first time, and lowered the handicap by 4 full points in 19 rounds.

For me it was another successful year with the NCGT. The guys and gal really seemed to enjoy themselves and to me that's an accomplishment well earned.
The 3 team events I played in were fun this year.
1-Winning the 22nd Annual Stuggy Invitational (4 man scramble) was fun and beating some yearly long time rvial teams was sweet once again.
2-Being part of Team Black and Winning the Annual NCGT Ryder Cup over Team Green
3-Being on the Winning NCGT Team against Team IGAO at The Battle at Belleville was also a highlight for 2007.
Good thing there are these team events as on the personal side, my game was just not up to par this year. It actually sucked. Badly . With driver problems for the mostpart of the season it has been a struggle. I havent given up on the driver but it sure was disappointing going up a couple strokes over the season.
With 100 rounds in, it was still agood year.I've spent most of my life golfing .... the rest I've just wasted"

Not a year to remember. I think the highlight was the intersectional. I was plying like crap. I was something like 3 down with 4 to play if I recall correctly. I won all 4 holes to win 1 up. The other two were already eliminated.
That’s it. I did nothing special this year other then that. I guess it’s true when they say it’s hard to follow your best season.

No major accomplishments this past summer in my golf career. I did manage to get through the season without another heart attack Eagled two par 4's and kept my index right around 6 most of the season. I did not hit anyone with errant golf shots either! Nor did I break any clubs
I did not bother playing the Club C as I am not into 5 hour rounds of golf.
I did manage to enjoy my summer of golf, racked up 128 rounds so far and will sneak in a few more. Had lots of laughs along the way.
I also enjoyed my new part time job working in the Back Shop. That job allowed me to make many new friends and play an awesome golf course once a week. What more could a retired guy ask for?My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

tied my career best with a 74 at Grey Silo in Waterloo. Other than that, it was a pretty uneventful year golf wise.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Won Senior CC
Won Intersectional Matches 9 & 8, 8 & 7, 5 & 3.

All time low handicap factor hit 11.0
Now at 12.6, but that's OK by me!
All in all it was a great season, but for me I think it's over unless we get an irresistably nice day... a good possibility.Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

Shot 78 three times. Most memorable was blowing up the first 6 holes my first round at Le Sorcier ever, and playing the next 12 at 1 under to hit the 78. Probably the most determined round of golf I've ever played.
Shot 85 from the blues at the Forum Fun Day at Eagle Creek with a 9 on the par 4 13th (I think is the right hole). I wasn't man enough to play the back tees with Hoolio!
How Bob (Indio) and I played against our counterparts from the Toronto Golf Nuts Forum needing to give 16 strokes over 36 holes. In the four 9 hole segments we were 2&1, 2&1, lost 2&1, AS (after being down 3 holes very early in the match).
That and Geoff asking me to get to under 14 handicap for the OG/TGN Ryder Cup. I went from a 17 to a 9.8 in the month of May
My favorite hole this year was walking up 18 at Trillium Wood seeing everyone standing behind the green and hitting the 3 solid shots to not look like a goof!

For me my 2 lowest rounds ever, a 73 and a 75 in a tournament
3 chip ins in 1 round
and my first ever back to back to back birdies
Finished the year off in the single digits in handicap , also a first for me
Plus the year is not quite over yet, and its November! My paycheck goes to my dogs.

For me it was breaking a 100 by shooting 98 as my PB. Was really proud to accomplish that given it was my first year playing.

Being called out by Hacker, having to give him a ton of strokes in match play..... and having the pleasure of having him take off his cap, walk over to me and say good game buddy before the round was finished

Banner Year
Three things I'll remeber this year for:
1) This marks the 40th year I have been toiling out on the links.
I guess we'll all reach this one or have ...The good Lord willing.
2) I finally attended a real PGA golf school.
That was a humbling experience. I was around a 5 cap at the time and the Pro ripped my swing totally apart and rebuilt it in two days. I must have hit 1000 balls in 2 days!!
But it paid off had four rounds under par in the next 4 weeks. Only had had ONE in the previous 39 1/2 yrs.
3) I saved the most rewarding for last... I organized and chaired my first golf tournament. We raised over 2500$ for a local charity that helps pregnant women learn to be good mothers as an alternative to abortion(the biggest blight in the USA).
All in all one of the most rewarding years of golf in my 40 years.
Next year I hope I am blessed with my first HOLE-in-ONE!!

My biggest accomplishments this year:
- First hole in one... 148 yards / 8-iron at the Greg Norman course at PGA West in Palm Springs.
- Lowest round... +1 on a difficult course (coincidentally, same round as the hole in one and a round that included a missed 2-footer... Doh!)
- Opening round 74 at Stonebridge in the Citizen tournament, followed up with a smooth 89 in the second round but still made the cut which was my primary objective before starting the tournament.
- Defended my title as Forum match play champion. Hmmm... I really should claim that prize!

Got my first Hole in One - Aug. 16th at Oxmoor Valley in Alabama
Played in the Citizen and didn't make the cut, but also did not finish last (stole that idea from jv)
Played in the 100 holes for Habitat for Humanity at Eagle Creek - actually did 112 holes and raised over $1500 for a great cause
Got my handicap to its lowest ever - its back up now, but for a short stretch I had broken my record
