Question Remember the last time you birdied a par 5 with a lost stroke?

I know it's not an eagle but it sure feels like one. Get to East 8 at Meadows and I had been drawing my driver most of the day so send it out through the right trees hoping to draw back in before the pond. No such luck and it goes straight in. So I drop on the line it went in before the pond and took out the 3 hybrid and drilled a low straight liner over the whole pond at the green. It hit before rolled up ~8 feet; no break dead straight. Been drawing if not hooking that club off and on lately so I figured with the water situation a questionably safe bet but had been on a string of pars so felt the need. Sunk the 8 footer. As someone who has never had a true eagle yet it feels pretty good. I know there are lots of eagle threads but curious about your experiences with a much less glamorous yet also somewhat elusive feat?

I just thought of something; it's the cally I through you that I used for the shot. Best $40 I ever spent on a golf club.

Tee shot in water. Drop. 3 wood close to green. Chipped in. Birdie on a par five. It was in a Men's League game so it felt good.

I've pulled that one off at Eagle Creek before on number 18. Hit the drive to the peninsula....it landed dead centre, but rolled off the greenside edge. Took my drop, grabbed the five wood, and cranked one onto the green. Then drained about a 25 foot putt. Oh, what could have been.

#12 at Stonebridge - hit tee shot into water on right. Rehit tee shot behind mound - lying three and still 250 yards out. Hit driver off the deck and plunked it in the hole - could have been a 2 on a par five if I hadn't lost the first ball!

    Fun shot though...

Last game of the year 2006 at Arnprior Golf Club. Hole # 12. Double bogey with a lost ball and a three putt. Crushed drive over ditch in centre of fwy. #3 hybrid right of right = lost ball. Drop provisional, crush #3 hybrid onto centre of green. 3 putts from 15 feet for a smooth 7.
