Spezza!!!!!!
Just got word that Spezza has re-signed with the Sens for 7 years/49million!!!!
They now have Spezza, Heatley, Alfie and Fisher signed through 2012-2013!! Looks like the future looks great for the Sens.

Murray and Melnyk are getting it done, that's for sure.

Lets get rid of redden and a goalie and make room for Forsberg!!! An incentive laden contract based on points and games played and we're well on our way to the CUP.

I honestly don’t think we will see Forsberg in Ottawa unless it costs the Sens next to nothing with bonuses up to the cup.
Same situation with the Ducks. My guess is that we’ll se Scott and Teemu come out of suspension/retirement a month or so before the playoffs.
Signing Spezza is a great thing for the Sens. Now which goalies do you trade?

If they are gonna trade a goalie, which i am now convince of, its gonna be Gerber. They are committed to Emery and he is the best goalie for the present and more importantly the future of the Sens. I would hang onto Gerber anyway, what are you gonna get for him, possibly a 3rd line guy. I would rather have an insurance policy in case Emery gets hurt.

this cap is awesome! Its really good to see the owners spendng MORE than they were before the lockout!!! that being said, spezza and heatly are both grat signings and worth every penny.
As for the $ at over par right now, the sens should short the canadian dollar just to be safe although I don't see parity going away for along tme

I smell DYNASTY!!!!!!!! If Gerber plays like he's been playing, we can free up more cap space by ditching Emery, and Redden.

yeah, I'm not completely sold on emery. I like guerber much more anyway. If goalies are fragile and its easy to get into ones head.. imagine having a partying rock star goalie that has a bad temper. Would take much to get in his head and throw him off.

Cripes silly, could you imagine him playing in a major city like LA or NY???? He'd get into a brawl with some NBA players or something!!! COOL!

My issue with Emery is he lacks the fundamentals, but he makes up for it with his ability. But I'd rather have a fundamentally sound goalie like Gerber.

Murray has done more in a few months than Mucks did over his entire tenure in Ottawa. Good job Brian!!

Looking at the way they're both playing right now, I think it's far from clear that Emery is the number one guy. He has not looked very good in his first few starts. If the playoffs started tomorrow, Gerber would be my man. That said, I think it's a very close race between the two, and always will be. If one ends up going, I suspect it will be based on the best trade they can get, rather than a reflection of "this is our guy".
