Nevada Bob's Carling
Just got word today that the store is closing. Apparently they are having a huge sale starting tomorrow. Can anyone confirm this?

Geoff,
Curious outside of Golftown what other Golf stores are still left in Ottawa....???"So many moving parts. Your whole body's moving, and this ball is not moving. It's standing still, laughing at you." Tiger Woods

If it's true that the Carling store is closing, the only one left will be the Nevada's in Orleans.
And of course the other GT opening near the train station.
If it's true, that's really too bad. I really liked the personalization I got going into that store. It was nice to see the familiar faces everytime I went in."A life lived in fear of the new and the untried is not a life lived to its fullest." M.Pare 10/09/08

Saw the ad in the Sun this morning. Starts this morning and runs for 11 days according to the ad.

I wouldn't hold your breath on great deals...we had a NBs close nearby and the discounts were not exactly steep.
Your mileage may vary...

Well I just got back from checking it out and I'd say you're pretty much bang on. Decent prices on some things, but they aren't going to be looking at empty shelves. I didn't really keep track of everything, but some things that I saw were;
- Bags - 30% off
- Nike Clothing - 40% off
- Balls - 20% off
- Putters - 25% off (with exceptions)
- New Shafts w/ Grip - 50% off (YS-6, Bimatrix, Titleist & Cleveland stock shafts, 1 set of Vista Pro iron shafts)
I didn't end up picking anything up.Let's put a Smile on that Face!

Well if they are just moving I didn't expect to see any super sales.. Guess they just want to move a bit of inventory so they don't have to move as much to the new store.

Same experience here. No crazy sales, but I did pick up a few accessories that I was going to get anyways. Shoes were on sale too, 20% I believe. All irons were 20% too.

Was just there, everything in the store is atleast 20% off. The sales rep said they are moving but not for atleast 6 months and they do not have a new location picked yet.

Probably still pay more with the sales than you would getting the club off of ebay/US golf site and shipped to Ogdensburg!
I do enjoy the Nike clothing though, might go check that out.

scott....if you like nike clothing, look no further than ebay. shirts can be had for under $30 shipped to your door. And these are nice, dri-fit shirts that sell for $70-$100 around here.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Cool! Thanks for the heads up Jeff, I'll check it out. I want to get a nice set of rain gear too, guess I'll scan ebay for that too.

Is there a good selection of shoes at Nevada's; I just returned my year-old, leaky (but comfortable) Nike's to GT yesterday and their selection for replacement was very limited.

The ball selection was pretty picked over, but the sales were as others said. I picked up some Champ Stinger spikes for 30% off... total was $12.xx with tax.

Did they have lots of spike packages there? Do they sell grips?
