    Re-grooving Ping Irons

Just recently completed a deal and got a set of Ping ISI-S (the stainless model) that will probably need the grooves re-done. I've read up on some people using a dremmel tool to redo the grooves. Just curious, seeing as how the Pings don't have a chrome finish, would the dremmel be the way to go? But will the Pings rust if the grooves are redone with a dremmel?

Would the grooves not need to be measured especially if your playing in tournaments Johnston?

I wouldn't use a dremel tool cause it's very likely to put the grooves out of spec. afterwards, I would use a groove sharpening tool only.

Illegal grooves is what you will have. Are they worn that much? Someone had to hit a lot of balls for those grooves to wear down to the point of being useless..

As Ironmaster said, buy a re-grooving tool. Or send the irons out to be done professionally.

BTW, I had used a dremel on an old wedge just to see what happened. No, deeper & wider grooves did not make the ball spin more
My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

Oh c'mon. You would have to hit a set of Ping irons a gazillion times to wear out the grooves....
I have to see these. I find it hard to believe they can be that worn.

Gotta agree. I've owned my set of ISI-S for nearly a decade, they have been heavily used, and the grooves are excellent.

I have a Ping Eye 2 sw that's even older. Again, groovs are great.

    Ping steel is indestructable.
