3 man best ball... what is a good score?

If all 3 golfers have a cap of 25 then I would be surprise if they shoot par... but you never know...

I would think somewhere in the mid to high 70's would be a good score for three 25's.

I'm a 24.2 HCP and usually hit a bunch of decent tee shots, a bunch of good approaches, a bunch of good chips and a bunch of good putts. I however hit a lot of bad shots too. So with that in mind and the obvious advantage of getting the break of putts from your partners, I could well imagine that a 3 man 25HCP team should be able to get in the mid to high 70s.

My reasoning is that there will be holes where they get GIR and one of the putts drops.
Holes where they get close to GIRs and someone hits a great chip shot.
Holes where they get into trouble but someone hits a good recovery.
Holes where they all stink.

This would probably add up to.

I played one last week...my group was as follows: me, 22 index, 1 complete beginner (didn't use one shot all round so this would make up a threesome), 2 others would be 25+. We finished with 8 bogeys, 1 birdie, 9 pars. 3 or 4 of the pars were all my shots, but the other holes we spread out the shots pretty evenly. We could easily have been closer to par, but were having fun, and had a couple of liberal visits from the cart girl...

Hank is pretty close with his estimate.
