Putter Finish & Care Question
Having just crossed to the dark side and purchased a Studio Design #5, I was told that I should use a silicon cloth to keep it nice and shiney.
Well, the first time I used it I cleaned up all nice and shiney and gave it a wipe with the cloth. The next time I played and took it out of the head cover, it had gone from a beautiful multi-color shine to a very shiney black (although the face and sole stayed multi-colored).
What gives? Should I be using a silicon cloth to wipe it or not? Is there any way to restore the multi-color tshine o the conclave part of the putter? (I tried washing it in mild soap and water and that only partially brough the color back).Proud member of the 2009 OG/TGN Ryder Cup Champions

Two words buddy........WATER BAD
The lads at The Cameron Collector talk about silicon cloths and silicon sprays but I wrote the Scotty Studio directly and they recommended 3 in 1 oil so that is what I'm using on all of mine. I have a bunch of old cloth baby diapers and I keep one in a baggy and give it a squirt of 3in1 from time to time. I wipe my putters down after each use with the oil cloth and I don't leave the head covers on when I'm not using them.
Hope this helps

Go to CT get some Silicon Spray.. make sure its 100% silicon. The one I have is in a yellow bottle and is in the Auto Motive section.. I think made by 3 and 1 but not 100% sure and too lazy to look right now after being on my feet all day at Montreal. The key is to never put the putter away wet.. I like to keep a spare cover in the car so if it rains when I play after the round I dry the putter and stick it in the dry cover.. When you get home hit it with some silicon spray and whipe it down with the cloth and back into a dry headcover..
I don't have any BP finishes.. but I have managed to keep my GB SD1 from rusting for a couple years..Proud Member BigJohnnys Ryder Cup Team '08

try the baby oil. apply it lightly... IE: dont rub it in and it will have a nice glossy rainbow.. but it wears off quickly...

Not the same finish as the TeI3, Jcracker. Black Pearl is a nickel plating and is almost as durable as pro platinum. Gun Blue (TeI3 finish) is a raw finish and doesn't protect the steel in the same way as a plated finish does.
Just don't use the putter when the greens are sandy, keep it dry and clean, and you'll be fine.

I guess I should have checked the Cameron site first, here is wht it says for the Studio Design BP finish.....
This new putter comes with the maintenance free Black Pearl finish that’s as striking as they come, and putts every bit as good as it looks.
