    Range Finder

Been thinking about getting one for awhile, what would you people suggest..? Is there really a need for a 300-400$ model I mean are there actual benefits to picking out a target 900 some odd yards away? Or can one get away with a lower end model?

    Suggestions?

I picked up the Bushnell X500, $198 at Golftown. Played with it at Hammond in a scramble tournament. The specs say 200yards to a flag, 499 yards to a tree and 999 yards to a reflective surface. It had some trouble picking up the flag at 200 yards, but there is usually something else to shot at on or near the green, which is what I did. At my home course, and all Clublink courses, they have an addition to the top of the flagstick which has a number of prisms in it. Last night I was picking this up from over 250 yards away instantly! All courses should be installing these things.

The Smarty is what they are using - http://www.laserlinkgolf.com/

Our screw-on-top reflector option that is fast becoming a best seller. At only 2" high and 3/4" wide, the Smarty is nearly invisible at the top of the flagstick.
    • Features five corner cube reflectors scientifically arranged to provide
    360-degree reflectivity
    • Easy installation -- simply screw onto the top of existing flagsticks
    • Molded from DuPont Zytel ST-801 "super tough" nylon to provide the
    ultimate in durability
    • Thread size 3/8"-24
    • Color — black
It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

I recently bought the Bushnell 07 Medalist w/ the Pinseeker feature. Pinseeker is a real nice feature to have on a rangefinder....especially if you have a lot of clutter/trees behind the flagstick. It's the cheapest model with the Pinseeker feature...only 4x though.

The target is the key! Contact me at dinunnery@windstream.net if your planning to use a laser rangefinder on the golf course.
