I have re-learned my golf swing from scratch and was making corrections one at a time, hitting the ball straight but very weak. Overcompensating, I started overhitting and spraying the ball out to the right and took a major step backwards.

I knew I had to do several things:

1) flatten the swingplane (I kept concentrating on the clubhead posiiton which wasn't working)

2) turn my upper body (but it never felt right)

3) use a stronger gip with both hands (felt too strong)

3) get the wrists loaded and unloaded (timing was a problem)

4) weight transfer (ended up off balance)

5) follow through and finish (was stopping my swing)

This all seemed impossible until I saw a Golf Tips From the Pros segment on the Golf Channel with Lee Jantzen. Towards the end of his segment he started talking about the backswing and he said (more or less): "better players know that it is critical to keep the hands low during the backswing, this forces the correct swingplane and helps with proper rotation and follow through".

I can't explain why but this one tip has really worked. I am now hitting much more consistenly on target and with what I reckon is 30-40% more power. The trajectory of all my shots has changed from an equal arc to the classic "slow rise and quick falll" that I've been itchin' for.

Thanks Lee!!!
