Depends on what you are looking for.

There are usually some pretty good deals on this forum but you can often find some pretty good deals on trade-ins at your local golf shops.
Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

I bought some TaylorMade RAC OS irons a couple of years ago at Golftown, in the winter. They were demo clubs from Chateau Whistler (they still had the stickers on them), but were in great shape. I got them for $298 and they threw in a TaylorMade RAC 56 degree wedge. All in all a great deal, I had them re-gripped and they were good to go. You may want to hold out a couple of months and check with GT to see when they expect these iron sets to arrive.

You'll get a much better set in the used market (like on this forum or Ebay) that buying new. I used set of Ping's are a good choice, or TM RAC's.
Slice, hook, or straight down the middle. It all looks the same on the score card.

Probably, stiff shafts will be an issue for you....but you won't know for sure unless you get fitted. What's "slow"? What do you typically use to hit 150 yards? If it's a 6 or 7 iron, then it's probable that regular will be better for you.

Try using this link for your preliminary fitting: http://pinggolf.com/global_webfit.html
