Hello Fellow Addicts!
Serendipity. That's what led me here, and this looks to be a terrific community.
I'm a long time golfer (my Dad got me started when I was around 10 years old), but never had a lesson until last year (quite a few yea... er... decades... later). Still slicing, though.
I had left the game for many years, but have recently returned and become something of an addict. Tomorrow, I go out for only my 40th round of the season, so I probably won't reach the 70+ rounds level I managed last year. All this golfing sure is helping, though. I think I've knocked a good... oh... I dunno... half stroke? off my game... <sigh>.
This is a tough game, ain't it??
Happily, here in the Vancouver area, the golf season is pretty long so I'm able to feed (gorge?) my addiction. Quite a number of people here golf all year round. Me, I grow annoyed at the mud and muck sometime in late October / mid November. For the last few seasons, my golfing buddies have targetted Saint Patrick's Day as the "official" start of the new season. The ball will still plug for another month or so, but the fairways are dry enough to make it a fun outing. Besides, you got all this kid-on-Christmas-day enthusiasm built up in you over the off-season, so you forget about how long your drive would have travelled, had it not plugged two inches deep.
Last year, my normally mid-90s score made way for a few games in the mid-80s. I even had one game where I scored an 80 from the blue tees! Of course, come the beginning of this season, I gave a lot of those strokes right back. Still, my goal this season remains to break 80. Twice. Haven't done it yet. But I had a good time at the driving range tonight... so... maybe tomorrow!
Wish me luck!

Since I am the "Early Bird" let me be the first to WELCOME you to the community. Nice to have another Left Coaster on board. Friends of mine just moved to Campbell River so they too will be able to enjoy more golf if they so desire.
You will find lots of friendly people here and lots of great information. You just have to weed through the BS from guys like Indio
Enjoy your stay and have fun with the game!

Just got on too late to beat Golfbum---as he is newly retired he has not got his together yet ---imagine railing on Indio like that! 5:55; he still thinks he is punching Ford's clock. Welcome to the zoo--you can spend a lot of useless time here---my winter is longer than yours---you can also learn a lot
Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

Welcome to Ottawa Patrick You have joined a community that has a great bunch of people from all walks of life and from all over the world
Don't pay much attention to Golfbum's rants, he is just grumpy lately because now that he is retired, he has to do the wash at homeProud member of the 2009 OG/TGN Ryder Cup Champions

Man I was never at The Big Blue Plant by 5:55AM If I was it was because I was getting paid time and a half Plus there was no clock to punch for the last 20+ years I worked there!
I just get up eearly Patrick, so I can stay one step ahead of Big Mac and Indio. Mind you, Indio has his computer right beside his bed. Then again, his bed is the living room couch. You'll meet Bugsy soon enough, she'll clue ya in about that!My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

Wait... Who should I ignore again?? People doing their wash? Or was it the early risers? I'm totally confused...
Thanks the welcomes, folks!

No no, the "EARLY RISER" and the guy who "Does his washing" are the same guy. He speaks the gospel, so you never ignore him.
It is INDIO you have to watch out for. Afterall can you trust a man who has to sleep on the couch every night? Besdies, Indio is bitter because he is not retired and the early rising wash guy is

I only do laundry for my golf stuff, towels, hats, wind jackets etc. So I was good there.
Dishes, nah, ordered in pizza and used paper plates Man did it rain out there this morning. It is now 3PM and my Ping Xtreme is still soaked. that thing won't be dry until tomorrow afternoonMy opinions are my own, I do not follow others.
