by the lack of response to your post, it seems that if it's not hockey related, we're not really interested....
it's a serious matter no doubt, but it shows me that basketball is nowheresville on our radar screen (aside from two and a half weeks every March).www.chapeaunoirgolf.com

Oh I knew there would not be much response as this is not a hockey related matter. But is is still newsworthy! I am not a Basketball fan either by any means.
Next time I won't bother posting anything important in the world of sports unless it is hockey related. I didn't realize I was the only person interested in scandals that occur outside of hockey. My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

Well, to be fair, the article you posted doesn't have any info on the charges that were laid against Donaghy. If it's something you want to stir conversation about, why not just post your own thoughts on the scandal?
I will say that this has the potential to break a multibillion dollar professional sports league. There is an unwritten covenant between the fans and the administration of the various professional sports leagues. For there to be genuine interest and passion about sport, there has to be the understanding that it is fair and not rigged. Otherwise, it's just wrestling. This breaks that covenant and as a result could break the NBA. Now that he has plead guilty, I imagine we'll start to here a few more specifics. I don't think there's any doubt that Donaghy purposely made calls that affected the outcome of games, and when that is proven or admitted it will shake the NBA to the core.
The latest news out today is that Donaghy may name up to 20 of his fellow referees as having engaged in some form of gambling or another. While most of it is probably of the legal variety, NBA refs are forbidden from taking part in gambling activities of any form. If it's proved, those 20 referees would likely be fired, fully one third of the NBA refereeing staff.

Wrestling is rigged?

I'm just weary of reading the 'sports page' and seeing nothing about gambling and dog fighting. Not that it isn't news, but it's just not that compelling.
