    Battle at Belleville

It's that time again and all is set for our NCGT Annual Road Trip.

We will once again be involved with our Battle At Belleville. This 36 hole Ryder Cup event is this saturday against a group from the IGAO (International Golf Association of Ontario), at Trillium Wood. They will be defending last's year win although, we hope to bring back the hardware this year.

Let's hope we can match the effort put out by the OG Forum Ryder Cup team.

As for our friday afternoon and sunday morning rounds, we will playing at Loyalist Golf Club. From what I have heard this is suppose to be a great track.

If you've played Trillium, you'll like Loyalist. I've been told the the design team was the same for both. Only difference is some of the holes on the back nine cut through a housing development .

Hey, it's no worse than Stonebridge. Loyalist is arguably the best conditioned course in Eastern Ontario, and a few changes have made it even tougher. Most notably #12 @ 593 yards from the tips (85 yards longer than the last time I played it), and #18 which is about 70 yards longer @ 511 yards par-4 from the tips, with the approach completely over water. This course is a tough-but-fair test, especially if the wind is up on the back 9.
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

    Good luck!!!

P.S.: bring lots of bug juice. Bugs are very "hungry" at Trillium Woods.

    Thanks
Got 3 cans in my bag. Might have to substitue two for more beer, errrr ceasars
I think this will be our 5th year playing Trillium, so we already know about the bugs, and I would imagine Loyalist is the same? But thank you for reminding the rookies..

Bugs are not a factor at all here at loyalist.

I am working the proshop til 1:00, so I will be just missing the group, but I hope you enjoy the course and best of luck to both teams.

p.s. greens are rolling at 9.8 today and the course is in fantastic shape.. Best fairways I have ever played.

Finally able to sit and type for a moment after gettting back last night from our road trip. What a blasT!!

    And the results.................................

    NCGT 29 - IGAO 21

We brought home the Hardware, the glory and the bragging rights that goes with it. It was truly a great team effort. Many thanks to all those who participated and especailly to Rupert (IGAO Team Captain) for the burgers our team of 20 enjoyed after our first rounds.

I have over 395 pics (not all mine ) on my pc of our trip and will post a few for you here although most will be posted our NCGT site.

With what the OG Forum Ryder Cup team did earlier in the season, there was big incentives as we didnt want to hear that they won and we lost.

Yeah, you wouldn't want that hanging over your head for a year.

    Congrats, good job guys.

Can we proclaim Ottawa a golfing championship city yet??? First the OG/TGN Ryder Cup win, now a win at the Battle of Belleville......what's left for us to prove.

I'm sure guys had the same experience as we have been having for the last 4 times we have held this event. The comeradery (sp?) between BOTH teams was unbeleivable. Those guys showed class all the way. We had as much fun as we would with our regular golf outings. After 4 years, seeing the same faces year after year is just awesome.

    Did I mention we won?

It was a great trip for sure! Steve posted more pics on the NCGT site including a 'Shtick's Chicks Pics' forum topic. LOL! I've also posted over 100 on facebook.

Seriously though, this is the best trip of the summer by far! The IGAO team has the best attitude and I look forward to the road trip every year!
