Here's the thing though...some of the "problems" that everyone quotes (ie. leaving hockey crazy cities of Winnipeg and Quebec City) are ABSOLUTELY not his fault. The passion of the fans, read: willingness to fork over $$$ for season tickets; the dedication of the city's corporate community; and the existence of a good lease/ownership of the building are all bigger factors in the big picture.
It's the city's own fault that the teams moved...not Bettman's. Just like it was our fault that the Senators were having problems and almost folded.

No it isn't.
It's no secret that Bettman's mandate is/was to grow the game in the US so he put teams in cities where they had no business being in the first place with the current group of owners more than happy to wallow in the expansion fees.
The real problem is pure, unabashed greed.
There are loads of people who live & die hockey but simply can't afford the ticket prices, and many others who realize pro sports is one of the worst entertainment values going. If you can't afford $500 to bring your family then you aren't passionate about hockey? WRONG.
Bettman can't disappear soon enough for my liking.Al Gore didn't invent the internet, but he did invent global warming.

As a former season ticket holder, from day one, here's my two cents.
The owners and Bettman have equal shares of blame for the current situation.
The owners are the ones who can't keep their free spending element in check. As much as they like to blame Bettman, they are their own worst enemy. Had they been able agree on some kind of decent revenue sharing arrangement like the NFL then there wouldn't be the mess that resulted in the last strike. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!
