    European Tour May Play in Canada

    The European Tour may hold an event in Canada as early as next year, according to Scoregolf.com.

    Negotiations are ongoing for the European Tour to play in Canada either the week before the U.S. Open or the week before the PGA Championship.. The Canadian Tour has given its approval and as many as 50 spots in the field could go to Canadians.

    The European Tour currently has tournaments in Africa, Asia, Australia and Africa, as well as Europe, but none in North America.

    I think this may have to do with Terance Mathews and the Marshes golf course In Ottawa. Wouldn't it be great if we get a big event in Ottawa. We don't get the PGA tour, why not the European tour.

    Matthews owns (or co-owns) a course in Europe where the Ryder Cup will be held in 2010. He definitely has ties to the European tour.
